Smile Zex Nitrous

Hi everyone , I have a Zex Nitrous set up on my car. The kit costs around $600, not bad for 75HP upgrade.

I like it !

I like anything that would have a significant gain in horse power, easy to use, and not hurt my engine. The Zex runs very nice on the car, flip the switch, floor the pedal, hold it there and the car will jump to 1st gear and change gears when the RPM reaches 6000. They have a remote valve opener for the nitrous bottle, so it's pretty convenient.

nitrous dosent hurt your engine... yove got to be kidding me right. the reson why people put it in there car is so that they can haveinstant pick up... i know that nex is a good company and all but nitrous is not good for your engine in the long run

Your using a 75 shot right? No the nitrous is not very healthy for your motor. You need to take it EASY w/ it and only use it when necessary. Other wise the estimated 3-4,000 mile eq. of using the 75 shot will catch up to your motor very quickly.
ALSO you said that you flip the switch THEN floor board it to make it downshift and spray...That is the biggest NONO, with an automatic trans. You will drop your trans the fastest that way. You need to floor board it then flip the switch, and try not to let it shift to diff. gears unless it determines the race. So its not as much strain on the trans or the motor. Also dont use it at high speeds or to reach a high speed. Cause your RPM will float and you are at a much higher risk to break a rod, or even worse.
That is just some info I received from professionals (Carboy, Jotech, etc)and friends who blew their motors or their trans. I have had my NX kit for 1yr and 2 months and have only ran about 55lbs of NOS through my car. So far no probs but still need to be very careful. Especially since my car hit the 100k mark

did you also have to upgrade the fuel pump and/or regulator?

You dont have to upgrade the fuel pump/ reg. Cause acura factory pumps supply enough that its not enough that noticable of diff. BUT it can make it safer w/ NOS if you raise the fuel level.
You really only NEED to change it if you are turbo.

i think if you get the kit you would also need to upgrade the ignition components such as the spark plugs and ingition modules.

Thanks for your info guys, so I would be more carefull with my system.

Question for neokenetick: what did you mean by
"try not to let it shift to diff. gears unless it determines the race" ? I'll remember to floor it first, then flip the switch later, and won't use it in high speed

I meant "not hurt the engine" by "not hurt the engine very quickly". With the nitrous, if you don't use it much (once a week or a month), I don't think it would wear the engine down quickly so I have to replace the engine very soon.

I
I just meant that It's not good for your trans when your spraying to let it shift from 1st to 2nd and so on. The trans is not designed to handle the extra torque that is going through it. It can get too hot and cause it to begin to slip.Try to just floor board it then flip the switch, and only hold it out if you are racing and the only way to beat them is to let it shift. I HAVE DONE IT, but dont recommend. I usually dont spray till 2nd gear cause 1st is too powerfull and it starts wheel hopping(peeling out) from 4k to 6,8k RPM. So I just wait till 2nd and all the power gets to the ground, It will even bark (peel out) when it shifts to 3rd on 19" wheels.

The kit itself costs around $600, the JoeSmoking installed it for $200. You could be directly from Zex or from the dealer.

Ive been thinking about buying nitrous myself....But with 60k miles I was kinda afraid I would f*** up my engine. Do I really have to worry about that or what? Should I get some engine work done first?

I'm not an expert, and I don't have time to become one But the Zex system seems to be an easy system to use and set up with automatic tranmission and used sucessfully without damage much to the engine according to my local dealers and weekend racers if you just use it once or a few time a week.

Since your car is 3.2, I assume the engine components could carry more loads than the 2.5. Mine is 3.2 too and it's 95K now.

For me, I don't use it much (may be because I don't get the remote bottle opener yet, it's a hassle for me to open and close the bottle each day), so I can't tell you how much it could damage the engine, but the dealer guy used it for over a year with weekend racing, and he said his car is still running good.

Well I guess I could do it then...Worst come to worst I bend or break a rod then I have an excuse to rebuild the sh*t out of my engine.
