WTF!?!? How did this happen??? Need help!
Ok, something's up with my starter/ignition switch... This morning I got in to start my car and as soon as I let go of the engine cut off(didn't think much of it). So I start it again; same thing happens. I dont know how I figured out to try this, but I held the key forward on the third time(but back just a little to stop the starter from grinding) and the engine stayed on. Its almost as if the catch or spring (not sure how these things work) that holds the key in the -on- position gave out or something. Also, it doesn't go all the way back when i let go, just barely enough to cut the engine off.
My questions:
1) How does this even happen?
2)Anyone else ever experienced this?
3)Is it possible to fix it myself? If so, how?
4)If not, where can I find a replacement starter switch? And how much do they cost?
All help is greatly appreciated. This really sucks!

I had the same problem on a '93 Prelude. Sounds like your ignition switch needs to be replaced. Mine went out while sitting in traffic. The car just died. When I went to re-start the car, it would only run if I held the switch forward enough to keep the starter from engaging. Good Luck!

The dealer is not the only place to get one. However, I did go through the Honda dealer where I purchased the car. I was not in a position to wait for my car and needed it fixed ASAP. So I paid through the nose for it. It cost about about $150 (I think ??) not including labor. That was 3-4 years ago. I'd check a local mechanic or parts store. Maybe a junkyard if you're looking to save a lot of $$.
