Question Windsheild Wipers

Yesterday it rain very hard in the NYC/NJ area and i was driving home....and then it happened...my wipers stopped moving....I almost crashed because i could not see sh*t. Anyway, I pulled over and waited like 30 minutes until the storm slowed down. I am going to call the dealer today...does anyone have an idea what the problem could be...is it something i can fix myself? Thanks!!

Back to the Wiper Issue, is it only me or does anyone have the same problem with their TL's wipers. Then mat black finish wears away and turns silver, talk about annoying!! Actually all of my Honda's as well have the same problem, and it looks nasty!!!!
Time for me to remove them and paint them over.

BobbysTL :

I have the same problem with my wiper arms. Have you painted them before? I got a couple of questions..

What tool is needed to remove them?

What kind of paint did you use?

Thanks

I know exactly what u mean, we have a 95 Accord and it has alot of silver showing on the wiper arm where the black is peeling off, and I had a 91 Legend and the same thing was happening, so I replaced the whole arm.

Unhappy

Mine is also turning. Is it better to remove and paint or just replace? If I replace it how long before it starts to turn again?....

You can order replacement arm assemblies from parts.com for about $50 each - not cheap. I'd try repainting before droppin $100 for wiper arms.

I would much rather paint it. The paint is maybe 10 bucks and takes about an hour to remove/paint and reinstall. I would get some of that Heat resistant Muffler paint seeing it would take a beating better seeing it is meant for mufflers which produce alot of heat.

Heat resistant paint sounds good, What kind of prep should I do? Do I need to sand the arms? Also, does anyone know what kind of paint/finish is used on them originally?

Yea the heat resistant muffler paint usually comes in either silver or Matt Black (Flat Black). They sell it in AutoBarn, Aid, and R & S Strauss.

I'm no paint expert but I would question the durablity of heat resistant tpaint to weather(UV, etc.). Its usually used for engines.

I've used heat resistant paint on mufflers and it never lasted very long.

I would consisder bying automotive paint(flat black or gloss black). Automotive paint is made to be UV Resistant, etc.

just my opinion
