Who changed timing belts themselves??

The dealer wants like $600 bucks to change the timing belt and water pump. Does anyone here works on your car 95% of the time or go too the dealer? I want to change it myself but need to know if I need any specialized tools to remove things...

Take it from me

Just get it done prefessionally. You could harm the engine if not done correctly.

the timing belt isnt too hard

if you mark everything and put it right back together than you shouldnt have a problem. usually the hardest part is getting the crank pulley off.

but then again if you dont have automotive experience than i would not do it if i were you
you know what you can and cannot do. use your own discretion.

also having the right tools is the best advice i can give you

If you don't want to pay the dealer prices, your best bet is to buy the parts online somewhere, and have your local mechanic install it. Your warranty should be all used up when it's time to replace the timing belt and water pump.

Well, I will look over the process, my skills is pretty good I do all the work on the mustang heads, cam, intake, etc. so I might give this a try.
