Trade in on KBB and NADA said trade would be $6200 with 96,000. Imavulate interior, all service records, runs great and only minor chip/scratches on exterior. The @ssclowns at Vandergriff Acura id Arlinton, TX only offered my $3500 on trade. I told them they are nuts! We even when line by line on the KBB vehicle condition eval. There excuse was they have to spend money to make it lot ready. Well, I understand that and that is why dealer trade is lower than retail, so that expense should be reflected in the trade in value

I got 3500 for my 96 2.5TL trade last year. It had 123,000 miles. Your not going to get much more than 3500 for your 98 at a Honda/Acura dealer. And my car was 'lot ready', new tires, brakes, tune up, oil change, timing belt. I had all that work done right before my wife said she wanted another car. Thats the breaks!!!

Well, we are talking about 2 years newer and 20% less mileage. I have less than 2,000 on the current tires and brakes and just did a major maintenace on all of the fluids, belts and gaskets all done at that dealership! TO make things even worse, they have another 98 on the lot with 108,000 they were selling for $9995.

I agree with you that the deal sucks. But thats the way it goes. I encourage you to fight for what your car is worth, 6000, to 6500 by my estimates.

I am not going back to these guys. When I was tying up the deal on my 2002 TL-s earlier this year, they tried to tell me that even though I was buying a certified vehicle, that Acura wouldn't cove any powertrain malfunctions unless I bough the extended warrantee. I had them reclarify that. I got up and walked. I ended up buying the car later after talking to the GM and was assured it was just a bad saleman(I really wanted the car). Was also over at the Vandergriff Honda next door, comparing prices on used Elements, and I told them I could get the same car with less mileage at the Mazda Dealer down the road($1500 cheaper). The salesman told me that warrantees are valid for the original owner only regardless of the mileage (8,000 miles) I would haev a warantee if I bought it from a non-Honda dealer. I told him he was full of shit and left. I love the service department at Vanderfriff, but there sales guys are total buttholes.

Yeah thats way too cheap for a 98 Acura TL. You could get couple more G's easily.

I would sell it private party if the dealers are that ridiculous. Sure, it's a hassle and will take more time, but I'd rather have a few grand more to put down on a new car.

I remember taking my '96 3.2TL with only 99k miles to Carmax a month ago and they offered $3500 for it. I scoffed and sold it myself for $7000. Excellent downpayment for my new car.
