Wet sanding headlights.
Got this over at the CL forum. https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-cl-2001-2003-50/wetsanding-headlights-pics-710310/
Anyway, my '96 TL headlight covers were peeling, hazy, yellowed and pitted from wear and tear so I thought I would give it a try. I hand wet sanded the clear lens w/ 1000 grit, then 2000 grit, then used Meguiar's Plast-X plastic polishing compound w/ an orbital buffer. Note - you can/need to be pretty aggresive w/ the hand sanding to get out the pits and the peeling.
To finish and protect I used Blackfire Wet Diamond which is an acrylic finish as I hear 'wax' might yellow quicker.
The lens are now looking like new form about 3 ft. away. Sorry no pics, but you can check out the pics on the CL link. Awesome DIY.

As above, "looking like new from about 3 ft. away", so yes clean. As for how long it lasts, don't know. I won't mind touching up again as its better than the ugly peeling light covers I've had for the past six years.
