Weird Idle Issues

Yesturday during are snow storm I remote started my car so it warm up, and while i was walking to my car my engine was reving like crazy. Anywhere from like 1k to around 2k every second. I do have promblems with my exhaust up front so that can cause the promblems. It stopped as soon i started driving though but its just strange how that happen. Anyone else have a cause for it?

Had the same issue with my 03 TL, look up EGR or IAC, those might be your issue.

Have you ever tried seafoaming the car? It might or might not solve the problem but it will at least help a little because it helps the idle.

^^ if the exhaust leak is large enough the lack of backpressure will make your engine run funny.. the engine will try to correct the lack of pressure by revving a little, don't worry. just get the exhaust fixed..how cold is it there by th way?

the day it happen, it was around 20degrees. You could be right though about the lack of air pressure. My car is going in the shop tommorow for the timming belt and water pump installed. I'ma question the mechanic about my exhaust leak so he can tell me where exactly where its comming from and have my brother inlaw fix it for the cheap. lol

I am having a problem with my engine revving on and off. My exhaust has holes in it and I haven't gotten it fixed. Is that my problem also, with the lack of back pressure?

bleed your coolant. It may be the problem.

Also, I cannot get my heater to work in my car unless I'm on the highway. What would be the cause of that??? Someone told me that the thermostat could be affecting it.
