water pump/timing belt???
I was wondering what sort of price to expect to have these two items replaced? I saw someoneelse question a 500$ price. I do realize this has been discussed many times, but i just want to get a good deal if i can.

check www.craigslist.com under automotive people that do outside work, in your area look for people who will do honda and acura certified.

If you need to get your water pump replaced, then the price is probably about 450-500 to do both. I had my timing belt done at a place called spee dee oil, and they were able to do the timing belt without removing the water pump, for 120. They did in like fifteen minutes. You`ll need to change three belts, two of the same size and one of another size.

Guess so... the only problem is, I have three new timing belts and a water pump thats just sitting there now. Figured I had to replace the water pump in order to replace the belts. I had some really high prices for a routine replacement like this, but the place I mentioned before provided very good service. I hear they are very well known in my area for a place that gives no bull advise and great service. The other place i`ve known for over ten years charge so much for anything, and they said it would take a day to do something like this.

The price you paid and the time you said it took is unbelievable.

I apologize if I made false facts.
From what I know, I had AC, ALT, and PC belts replaced. The belts near the radiator. I was assuming that those were the timing belts So the timing belts must be located somewhere else. I have heard that the timing belts were notorious for being hard to access, and sensitive because of our engines. Can you tell where the aproximate location of the belt? If the belts I replaced are just accessory belts, then I need to get my timing belt changed ASAP.

I just checked an old post by TexasHonda and you are right my belts arent changed. Guess I have more work on hands now, at least ill be able to use my parts. I think they were ContiTech for the belt and Japan water pump.

The water pump is supposed to be replaced with the timing belt- it sits behind that belt- which in turn is hidden by covers and obstructions to the tech
The book says 105k miles- they can need replacement before then based on age, which kills rubber and coolant- see severe service schedule in owner book
Others drive high miles every year and have gone over 200k on the same belt and pump
If either one quits- big problems for you
Better safe than sorry on this one is MY opinion- and a job I will pay a private shop to deal with it !

I got a 2000 TL, I had the dealer do it, its was almost a grand. I don't have to worry about shotty work and the guarantee it for 10k miles. They did the belt, the waterpump and the tensioner, and they gave me a TSX for a loaner car!

But it's definitely good for you and your car that you now know the timing belt wasn't replaced.
A job best left to the professionals.

If you are replacing the timing belt, I'd suggest changing out the timing belt tensioner as well. I think Texas Honda once posted that while he was changing out the timing belt in his car, he noticed the bearings in his tensioner were beginning to go bad.
