Vibration at Idle

This is my first post to the site, it is extremely helpful. I've got a 97 2.5 which I've owned for about 1 1/2 yrs. I just got back form a 500 mile trip & @ idle only I have a noticable vibration throughout the car. I ran injector cleaner and 93 Chevron. Really helped performance but no cure on vibe. I will try to adjust valves cause I hear a noise which sounds like manifold leak but I just replaced that gasket when I changed O2 sensor. Any ideas? I get about 27 mpg (mostly hwy) so I can't imagine an EGR. 125k miles & still going strong.

Sounds like the engine is fine since you are getting good fuel economy. More likely its a bad engine or tranny mount.

Ken, thanks for the heads up. If the mount(s) are bad wouldn't I feel a vibration at other speeds(rpm)?

One other thing I forgot to mention.......She only vibrates in gear. In park or neutral= smoother as butter....

If it vibrates when in a gear, then its definitely a transmission issue.

since these cars don't have an actual filter for the tranny, look at getting a transmission 'flush'. that will change the fluid, etc and could possibly help that out. how long has it been since that's been done? if you've never done it, then i would highly suggest it.

Yeah, I have a 97 2.5 with the same problem. Its def the motor mounts. Its basicly Honda's typical vacum assist motor mounts. They usally don't last more than 100k or so. I've owned enough Accords with them over the years to know this. If it isnt that bad I suggest not worrying about it. Those things are expensive!!

TLM,Thanks for this insight. I was a little suspecious as to a low idle vacuum issue. The second I touch the throttle it disappears. I saw the lines going to the mount & said "Holy Shit" what next will they think of. But I guess if you want the "Butter" type ride you have to reinvent the wheel.
Thanks to everyone on this issue, I'm also going to have the tranny flushed, "Pay a lttle now or a whole lot later"

New Motor Mounts

I just spent $700 on all 4 motor mounts and the transmission mount. and spent 300 to install all of them. The vibration while it's idling did not change to signifigantly. When it's in park or neutral it's like butter but as soon as it's in gear with the brake applied, like at a red light, my watch unbuckles form the vibration! I'm a little dissapointed. What next!!
