Urgent! Replace lock solenoids

Hello Newbie here:

Absolutely love my 96 TL: Urgent question can I replace the tranny lock solenoids(on top of the tranny) without removing the tranny?

Please: Iam desperate I do not know if shifting manually from d2 to d3 to d4 is killing my tranny!!

I am approaching 400,000 miles on this tranny, and do not want to ruin it!

I have today and tomorrow to fix this before I have to use it again. If interested I can tell you how to increase gas mileage.
