type s rims question

i am thinking about putting tl or cl type s rims on my 3.2. does anyone know of any problems with doing this? will both the cl and tl ones fit (6.5 vs 7 inch width)? also...are 215/50 17s and 205/65 15s the same diameter?

thanks,
will

they should both fit no problem, no they arent 215-50-17 is the tl or cl tire size and the 205-65-15 is probably your stock tire size( i thought 3.2's had 16's?? )

when looking at a tire
215 = width
50= sidewall size in MM i believe
17= size of rim

Hey Will,

If you had 205/65 - 15's ... then the 215/50 - 17's are very close in diam. only 0.1% off

That's going off that 205/65 - 15 is the stock size for your car.
Mine came with 16 and dont remember the size off hand.
You might want to check that since 962.5TL commented on the original size as well, its just getting me to think that may not be the original size.

Here's a web site you can play with the size to see how far off the diam is from 15/16/17" wheels

Hey Wil,
I put on TL-S rims on my 1st Gen and they fit perfect. I use to have a set of Konig Monsoons 215/45/17 and they use to rub like crazy on really hard turns and with anyone in the back seat. The TL-S rims fit perfect and I have no rubbing whatsoever.

Ebay auction for these wheels... $822 w/ 7 hrs left
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1872523056

Shipping would be about $100 ~ $150.

Do a Ebay completed auction search ... I noticed rims only go for about $340 to $510 plus shipping.
Use ebay to guage what the market is willing to pay however a local buy should be less since the seller doesn't have to deal with shipping.

Ask the guy you know to come down in price if he's local.

If memory serves me, I remember seeing these take offs go for as low as $700 about a year ago.

Good Luck,
M

I got mine from a fellow TL'er in this forum with tires for $600. He lived about 75 miles away and I drove there to pick them up to save on shipping. The tires had about 80% tread left. The next month, I also bought a brand new set of tires from him for $180. I wish he did more mods to his TL so that I could buy them off of him!!

By the way, his new car is a brand spankin' new M3.
