Trans fluid in VSS
Hi there, I'm still in the first week of owning my first TL (a 1998 2.5) and the first fix I did was fix the VSS using TexasHonda's guide on swapping out the guts of a 94-97 Accord sensor. After doing that my problems were fixed! No more hard shifts out of first, speedo and odometer work again and cruise control is back!
But when I removed the sensor, I noticed a lot of trans fluid in the little area where the small drive shaft for the sensor plugs in, and fluid and some gunk (grime? semi solid pieces) inside the sensor. My question is, should trans fluid be getting in there? The metal housing does have a small hole moulded in, so I wasn't sure. I put new grease in with the new guts, but should I open it again and put more grease in to be safe?
I'm sorry if this has been addressed before, I tried searching and couldn't find anything similar.
