Took the TL into the shop for a check up today

So we have a local Honda shop in about 2 minutes from my house. This is a shop that specializes only in Honda and will literally not touch anything else. I even asked the guy if I brought a Toyota in and he said they won't touch it.

A little info about the shop: They started out as a 3 bay independent shop specializing in Honda, they have moved into a new facility within the last 5 years (That's the last time I was there) and now have 8 bays with lifts plus an alignment machine. It's rare to see such a nice and honest shop. They didn't even try to upsell anything.
Sorry for the crap picture, didn't use flash on the Pre

I have had some steam coming from the top part of my radiator lately and I had a terrible noise coming from one of my right front ball joints and wanted to get the car completely looked over to make sure it's safe to drive, nothing else is fine, etc.

The car has 247,842 miles on it and checked out being in tip top shape. The radiator could be replaced because of a hairline crack but is not an issue at this point and they used a syringe to pump some grease into by front right lower ball joint. I just can't believe this car - so many miles and being 14 years old and no issues (except for rear main seal leaking)! Just wanted to share.

I'm picking up a 2002 Acura 3.5RL on Tuesday of next week and I can only hope it'll be as reliable as this car has been.

BTW I'm still keeping the TL It would be a shame to pass this on to someone who won't care about it. Spring time, I'll be taking care of the two small dime size rust spots it's developed and plan on keeping it as an extra car.

That is all

I work for Honda and it's bigger than some Honda dealers out there... I was really impressed - the owner and his son are there 12 hours a day and they employ about 10 techs.

Their honesty is why they are doing well. THAT is what America used to stand for.

Do a good job and let word of mouth take over.

Instead its 24/7 advertisement that is about as subtle as getting clubbed over the head.

I will always pay more for good work and an honest business.

Funny thing is I asked if they do any advertising and they said they don't want to bother people. All their business is word of mouth.

It is so easy to let go of your dollars when you know the quality of the job was there and therefore the problem will not happen again some time soon. In some instances, you can not wait to take you car to a garage simply because you want to give your business.

When you think of the Customer, everything else should fall into place.

Taking the RL to the same place tomorrow for an oil change and a look over

Mandy, I agree. I'm all about customer experience. If they take care of me, I will continue to come back and you're right - I don't even mind spending my $ there.

I have a friend who owns a shop, he's an ex-Honda ASE guy. Super nice. He will actually lay the options for you. Unlike others, giving you the most expensive, sometimes not really needed service.

He coaches me to do my own service...how's that for service? I have yet to give him real business becuase I end up doing them myself. I am just a frustrated mechanic. Just today I replaced the alternator on my beater 2000 Maxima. Not bad. Not bad at all. Cost me $150 on parts. And 4 hours of elbow grease. I enjoyed it.

Took my RL in today and told them the TL still had a squeaking ball joint, they told me to come in and they'll grease up the upper ball joint at no cost since that's probably the one making noise.
I really like this place.

You get a syringe and you inject it in there and around the joint body. We did it on my friend's Supra.

~Cheers~
