thinking of wheel upgrade
thinking of wheel upgrade
Hi everyone....I have been on the board for a little while now but dont posts very much..I have a 97 3.2TL with Type S wheels right now and I have a friend thats selling a set of 20s TSWs with 225-30s for a very good deal and want some opinions ...I have searched and I know 20s are a bit big but I think it may look pretty good..heres a pic of the wheels...lemme what u think...thanks

BTW it does come with caps....its looks like this with caps

as far as the wheels go, i think they look just fine. however, the size is something i would be concerned about. a 'bit' big may be an understatement. i haven't had my car for that long either, but i have yet to see anything with over 18 inch. even then, with passengers, it will rub when going over bigger bumps. if anything the 20s would rub even more. and i'm not sure what your turning radius would be, but they would for sure rub on tight turns. but if you can deal with it and they look good to you when installed, i say go for it.
specially if you think the price is right and if your friend is a good guy about it.

whats d offset.... at 20's its can be by 7.5 or 8 or 8.5 .... thats critical n also d offset....hope is at least +48 or +52 or greater.....but if u dont want them i'll buy them from u .....let me no...thx

They shouldn't rub anymore than 18's with 40 series. It's not the size of the rim that makes them rub, it's the offset compbined with the OVERALL diameter of the tires. If the offset is right, they should fit. they are SWEET looking rims. My biggest problem with 20's would be damage to teh rim. Even my 18's with 40 series rubber have already been dented with the shitty ass roads in the T-Dot. 30 series rubber would protect even lesss.....But again they would look SICK!!
20"x8.5........it must be +52 or above to fit..... a 2nd gen tl because of d lack of wheel well space!!!......but for d first gen, i m not exactly sure.... what i m sure of it'll look pretty damn good
hope it fits ur car........but if not let me no...heheh( it probly doesnt fit my car....
) find out d offset would save u from alot of headaches down d road......u dont want ne thing that rubs n bottoms out every time u got ppl in it....good luck!!! keep us posted!!

Definately
but yeah, you should at least put the Eibachs on it to kill SOME of that wheel well visibility. Do you have the center caps? That would help too...., but all in all look spretty sick!!
I don't like the new wheels personally. They look nice by themselves, I like the style, but I don't think that they fit your car too well. The seem too big without being lowered, sort of like a half finished project. They just seem out of proportion, like how short the front end is, but how huge the wheel is. Congrats on getting 20's on there though.

Just dont fit the car. Props to you though for puttin 20's on. How does it ride?
Thanks for all the comments...I am planning on lowering it but not sure if I want to keep the car or not..want a Type S instead...the ride isnt bad at all..you do feel the road a bit more than the stock setup...the wheels are definitely big..lol
thanks
