Thinking of getting a 2004 RL...
There is a white 2004 RL that has caught my interest. Going to take an extensive test drive tomorrow.. we'll see how that turns out. So expect a brief description of what I think Perhaps I'll buy it, probably not yet though.. I'm cheap
Worst case scenario, the '97 TL will go to my brother. Stay tuned.

Well, I didnt buy it. It was a nice car but it immediately made me feel older and brought back the memories of when I got an older RL as a loaner. Think of a 1st gen 3.2 TL but without the fun.
Likes:
XM radio built in
2nd power plug in the center console for cell phone
LED Gauges
Smooth and quiet ride
Stereo sounded crisp
Visibility as good as 1st gen TL
VSA
Rear air vents
Dislikes:
Disconnected steering feel
Engine didnt feel terribly peppy
If anything the car just gave me some ideas on what I'd like to do with my car. With some additional sound insulation, LED gauges and XM I'd take it over the RL.

Hope this isn't jacking your thread, but I was going to make a similar one and figured why waste it.
I was also thinking about getting a '04 TL for some reason they just look so good to me but I hate to leave my baby ( thinking of giving it to the wife tho ).
Has anyone test-driven it or know some of the pros and cons about it. Because Im REALLY leaning toward it.

well if u have it, its enuff said. (compliment intended, lol) I just basically wanted to know would it be a good deal in giving up my 1st gen (well giving it to the wife so it wont be too far)
Ya' kno its been so reliable over the years, just scared to let it go.
I want it so bad . I just wanted to know the basic pros and cons of the third gen as apposed to the 1st.. thanx.
p.s. Im kinda rushing now but I can come back with more specific questions if u'd like

Thats ok, take your time with any specific questions.
I'd take a test drive of one if you can, its much easier to give you a good comparison if you know what the car is like.

hey eric,
after driving another member's third gen there are the little tradeoffs u will find between the 1st gen and 3rd gen...
a quick example is that the 1st gen has virtually no blind spots (well very few) whereas the 3rd gen has some crazy blind spots...
of course since the 3rd gen is a much newer model, it has the perks of a stronger engine and more toys (bluetooth, if you get the navi, DVD-Audio) and most importantly a 6spd option...
but personally, i like my japanese built TL... i haven't had a single major problem on it (knocks on wood)... compared to my best friend's third gen that is having rattles and squeaky brakes after only 8k miles... but does this mean i would not get a newer TL because they are made in Ohio??? no, ill prob get another TL after mine dies... or revive it with a Type II like Ken...
