Tachometer acting funny
Please Note: I already read the other threads concerning this problem, but just hear me out.
So I own a 1996 2.5TL. I recently got into an accident (FR side) and replaced everything on my own to get it running again. I always had an issue with my tachometer acting funny...but as soon as I started my car (after a year of not driving) the check engine light came on. I pulled the codes and I got PO700 and PO725. Upon researching the forums here (and outside resources) I figured that I should replace the speed sensor. So I ordered a speed sensor (VSS) for a 97 Honda Accord and swapped everything from my old sensor to the new one, the way TexasHonda did to his vehicle. (The brackets aren't the same, for those who don't know) But upon replacing the new one I get the same problem NOT TO MENTION my speedometer now doesn't work. I tried cleaning the switch, swapping the old speed sensor again, adjusting the pin and making sure it fits well, but nothing.
I need to pass my emissions to pass my smog so I can drive and it's getting really annoying. Does anyone have any suggestions? Perhaps this is a faulty VSS or maybe I have an electrical problem?
If this makes any difference, I tested the vehicle while having the speed sensor plugged and unplugged. But I get the same result.
