strange vibration at 1500 rpm

In my 97 3.2 TL I get a strange vibration at 1500RPM. Any ideas?

Every 3.2L has had it, from Legend to the TL. It's just a bad rpm for balance in the engine. Nothing to worry about, you should only nitice it though if you hold it there in Neutral, shouldn't feel it really at all while driving....

The 3.2 engine is a 90 degree V6 without a balance shaft so it'll shake a little from 1400 to 1600 rpms.

This was fixed in the 1st gen RL's C35 motor, it has a balance shaft and better engine mounts.

My 97 3.2 tl does the exact same thing. I think the vibration at 1400-1600rpm is pretty damn noticable. I even feel some power loss. I thought this was a problem on my car because of the messed up 02 sensor I have.

yeah, at that low of an RPM you wont notice any power loss... your usually only that low when in idle or cruising down a steep hill.

well... you would be at 1400-1600 for a split second during intial acceleration... but not enough to be noticeable during normal/consistent driving

Hi folks.
Anyone tried this yet? Do you think it would really make our car less vibrative, dampen the engine movements?

There is nothing you can really do because it's the nature of the engine to vibrate. Just bad balancing. You can probably get new engine mounts. That'll help, but the problem will not be cured 100%. 90 degrees V6 without a balance shaft will vibrate at one point. 60 degrees is more ideal for a V6, like the J-series engine.

Thanks Guys. Good info. I was starting to wonder if it was 1st gear instead. Had me nervious with all the known 2nd gen tranny issues. Good to know it is just a standard quirk.
But just curious??? Anybody ever have a problem witht these trannys?
Thanks,
Adam
