Speaker trouble

Hey. The front, passenger side speaker in my car has been making a lot of static noise for a few months now. Some times it's really bad and sometimes I can't even notice it. I'm guessing I need a new speaker but I was wondering if anyone has had this problem and if there's another way of fixing it. If I do need a new speaker where would you guys recommend me getting one from? Thanks alot.

I've got the same problem. For some reason It's always the front passenger side speakers that start fuckin' up. In my old car all the speakers were working fine, but then the because of that one speaker I had to change em all. Same in the Acura and even in my cousins family car.

I don't get it why the front passenger side speakers always go first. Really annoying issue.

My driver side rattles when i turn the volume up. I have replacements in the garage waiting to be put in. I'm too lazy to do it lol

original poster: you can get new speakers at any electronic store such as best buy, circuit city, tweeters, wal-mart, almost anywhere where they sell audio electronics. Get size 5.25" to have a perfect fit. 6.5" is a bit bigger and needs to be modified to fit but its not that much more work.

I think we've all been there. Because of the year of our cars and the continuous usage, the rubber around the cone eventually breaks and cause a rattle. Simply replace the speaker and it'll sound as good as new.

Well I had a problem like this except since my car wasn't turned on or driven for over a year and once I turned the car on (after a bunch of repairs) the speakers all started rattling because the factory speakers only have paper and will eventually get softer and then rip. So I replaced all the speakers and now it is amazing.

If I take it to Circuit City or Best Buy, how much do you think it will be to replace just the passenger front speaker? How much for the speaker and how much for the labor?

Thanks

Dude, it's so easy to change a speaker, just do it yourself and save the cash.

Well first if you are going to replace one why not just replace the other one to. Then you have to buy the speakers and ask them for the Honda/Acura connections that cost like $10-$15. Finally you take the door panel off and if you got the 5.25" speakers then you don't have to make modifications to it but if you get anything bigger then you have to. I never installed or replace car speakers before I did mine and it took me literally like a half hour.

Speaker size?

Everyone's saying to use 5.25" speakers but when I go to the Best Buy website and put in that I've got a 98 TL it says the 5.25" don't fit my vehicle but 6.5" speakers will. Does anyone know why that is and which size I should go with? Thanks for the help!

6 1/2 is factory ..but with a aftermarket 6 1/2 you need to modifed it to make it fit (like drilling new hole) if you get 5.25 it be a str8 up fit. other wise pick either one

5 1/4" is the size of our speakers but the outside metal plate that holds the speaker (built in with the speaker) is 6 1/2". The back cage of the 6 1/2" will not fit in the 5 1/4" round hole so you'll need an adapter... and Krayzie is right, you'll need to drill new holes...

I'll take pics of my speakers when I have a chance... Got some cheap Planet Audio when mine went out... I need to update...

Distortion from the built-in amp is what I'm guessing. Try getting an inline noise filter for the positive connection and check your grounds.

~Cheers~

Thanks. The weird thing is, it just started happening, everything has been cool since I installed my sub, like 5 years ago!

your rca cable is bad or when you ground it, its touching something (i.e. paint). If its paint, unscrew it, take it out...scrap off more of the cars paint, and screw it back on.

by the way, you really don't have 80k on your car, do you?? also, i think we guys want to see a picture of you..at least I do!

I just fixed my humming sound....you guys were right, I was lazy to ground it right. I saw my ground connected, but not bolted. I bolted the sucker and the hum is gone, thanks!

Me, I look like a normal dude...so, nothing to be interested about, LOL!
