so i found out my issue. the dealer said that a chunk of carbon got stuck in the spark plug and caused it to misfire. must have been a good size chunk. so under the emmissions warranty (i assume) they cleaned out (not replaced) the EGR valve and told me that it was chalk full of carbon. they offered me a fuel system flush for a 'meesley' $145. i said no deal. i'll put some STP fuel system cleaner in it or something for now. so that was my cause they said.

then i was told that my exhaust manifold has a crack in it. so under a bulletin for the 96 TL (apparently 97 and 98 are different mileage wise for coverage) they are going to replace that for free. he told me that the part was like 700 bux and the labor is close to 300. whether that's right or not i have no idea. but for now it's free. they wanna charge me for towing, but i think the manager may override that (he better )

so now they will have my car til friday. no loaner and i have to go pick it up. oh well. i guess all's well that ends well....so far. as long as i don't have to pay for towing (or anything else) i'll be at ease.........for now.

i'll give it a look at. oh, and btw, the tow from here to the dealer is paid for by them. yaya! so now i just go pick up car on friday afternoon with a coke and a smile (sans the coke). the guy is checking to see if they can bring it to me or i go get it. either way i'll be happy.

ok, so i got car back and didn't have to pay for anything. although the guy kept mentioning my 'performance exhaust' and how it's louder than stock and it could hurt my mpg. i just shrugged that off everytime. maybe he was jealous? :P hehe, probably not, but oh well. car back with clean plug, clean egr valve and new exhaust manifold. freeeeeby! w00t
