Quick? - semi-metallic or carbon-ceramic

like the title says, which type of brake pad do u think is better for a 96 3.2tl. I believe semi-metallic's are the stock brake pads. I was wondering whether i was better off sticking to OEM or switching 2 some aftermarket carbon ceramic pads?

Depends on brake setup for specific car.....sometimes carbon metallic pads can heat the rotors so hot that they warp. BUT....if warping is not problematic on your car....then you are prob ok. This happens a lot with BIG cars...caddys and such. Switch to better pad...heat rotors up...and they warp. But I bet the TL wouldnt fall under this category.

that is weird... i have experienced somewhat the reverse... i tried carbon and ceramic and they usually flake off more than my semi metallic... so i can't complain because it is saving me money...

I thought one of the good things about ceramics was that while they did produce brake "dust" it was black, but was kinda greyish so u couldn't really see it. I've got ceramics on my accord right now.....it looks like the brakes are pretty close to the wear indicators (I am HARD on the brakes inthe accord), and i installed them just 10000 miles ago! I'm inclined to believe that ceramics wear more quickly.

However, went ahead and got some ceramics for the TL - 52 bucks for a set! damn! anyways, ill be puttin 'em on this weekend or next, and bleeding the brakes while im at it, so ill let u guys know how it goes.

I've got ceramics all the way around with x-drilled and slotted rotors all the way around. THey work fantastic. Car sat all last winter so the front rotors could stand to be replaced due to some minor warpage, but prior to that they were on the car for 2 years with NO problems.

I just put some Hawk high performance ceramics with slotted rotors up front and I must say they are 100 times better than the semi-metallics I had on there with OEM quality rotors.
