question from a potential 2.5 owner.

hello all, this is my first post lol
I don't own a acura (I do own a rotary rockett tho and my sister has a nice legend that I drive from time to time) back on track I had a couple questions about a 97 2.5TL fourdoor. My best friends brother has a 97 2.5tl with a cracked engine block that has been sitting in his driveway for at least two years, I have been looking at this car the entire time thinkng that it was a pretty damm sweet four door that I could see myself driving. I have been tossing around the idea of buying it except for a few issues 1. how much $ and 2. engine is ruined and need swapped.

What I wanna know is how much should I approch (money/value-wise) the brother to see if he would sell it to me ? keeping in mind that it the car has sat for two years and won't be seeing a mechanic anytime soon as hes been down on money for at least two years without anyway of fixing it, and also i'm close family friends with their family for the last 15 years.

Now to the details: the car is silver-ish/beige-ish in color, no major body damage, paint is chipping off on the front/rear bumper, has some pretty rediculous chrome 17's rollers, no stereo, tan leather interior, sunroof, auto-matic transmission and prolly most other options not really sure. I haven't checked the milage but that should be low on the list of things since it will need a new motor anyhoo.

So how much moneys is it worth ?

and...

does anyone know where (web site/shop) to get a jdm or usdm 2.5 engine, preferably in seattle/tacoma area ?
Also an aproximate price on the motor ? -I'm pretty handy when it comes to cars so I would most likly be able to pull the old engine and swap with the new one so that should cut down on the entire cost.

I know I get a little frustrated when noobs come on to fourms asking a ton of questions but I would appreciate any help you all are willing to lend to me, were all noobs at one time lol.

Thanks in advance, aaron

I think you should pass up this one. I wouldn't pay more than $500 for it.

A car just sitting (and outside) for 2 years is going to have all sorts of problems beyond the engine. Especially the Seattle area with the high moisture.

if you do decide to buy it, hit up a junk yard and see if you can find another g25 engine (vigor or another 2.5TL). I'm not sure if the 3.2TL will fit snug into the engine bay but if so, see if you can find a 3.2TL or a Legend. I think you MAY have to upgrade your suspension if you're going to drop in a bigger motor.

As far as it being stored outdoors for 2 yrs, the exteriors finish must be awful but that could prob be fixed with a full detailed wax?
