Question about the shifter.

Do all 1st gen's come with the gated style shifter or just the 3.2s? Thanks.

gated? as per have to move it the right and down etc? if that is what you mean, then all 1st gens do i think. i have a 2.5 and mine is like that. pretty sure they all do.

It is so funny to see people get confused by it too. I've had people try to go D->P and whatnot, and they never read the push down, its amazing how second nature it becomes to go move it around.

Interesting button setup for the seat heaters. Mine are next to each other with the foglight button at the "top" or towards the front of the car.

Good catch, Ken!! It was very uncomfortable for me to fumble around under the parking brake lever while driving so I swapped the buttons around since I leave my fog lights on all the time.

Makes sense

Its a simple swap, maybe I'll get around to it someday as well, I keep my foglights on always too.

Maybe the cdn TL's are different than American? My foglight switch is up on the dash by the sunroof switch?!?! Or does that change when you have TCS?

Mine is like that too, and it's a US model.

Absolutely poor position for it in my opinion. Can't see if it's on or off because the blinker stalk is in the way.

My car has TCS so that's probably why my fog light switch is next to the shifter.

But...why do you leave your fog lights on all the time? Is it the "Look, I'm a skilled European driver" thing?

What I meant by "all the time" is only when the headlights are on. IMO, the fog lights provide a wider light beam so that I can see the sides better, like when someone is walking on the grass or a deer or whatever.

Yeah the foglight switch is on the dash unless you have a 3.2 with TCS.

You just have to conenct two wires under the steering wheel. On my 2.5 it was [red wire with silver stripes] and [red wire with blue and silver stripes]. Thats what I have written down, but I think it was actually a blue stripe with silver dots. I'm not sure about a 3.2 if thats what you have.

speaking of fog lights...

I just bought a 97 TL Premimum w/ 73k miles and love it. However, the fog lights are working. Any thoughts on the likely cause. thanks.

ummm... cause nothings broken??

im gonna assume that they aren't working so maybe the bulbs burnt out? or maybe a fuse or a bad wire/switch?
