Question about driveshaft/halfshaft/axle

Hey guys I've had an ongoing problem with my car since I bought it several months ago. In a nutshell, i've had my tires balanced allignment done several times but I can't seem to get ride of my car and steering wheel shaking under acceleration. Took it to a mechanic and he told me that it appears that the issues I'm have with the car pulling to the left and shaking at the wheel are do to driveshaft on the driver side being broken or worn out.

I replace the lower balljoints up front, bushings and even the stablizer links as well as the passenger upper control arm b/c of allignment issues that I've been having.

I can only feel the shaking when the car hits about 80 km/h and when the pass 130 you can hardly feel it. The problem is that I cruise on hwy around 120 and that's when I can really feel the shaking espically in the steering wheel. Forget about it being a balancing issue. I've had it balanced by 2 different shops and they said that its not a balance issue.

My question is for all those who had any repair or replacement work done on their driveshaft/axle what were the problems you were experiencing and what was the issue with the driveshaft, i.e. broken, torn, etc.....

I had an otherwise perfectly good shaft with a broken boot. I replaced the entire axle with a new one since it was under warranty, and then got the shake under acceration after replacing it. I never got a chance to confirm it, but it sure seemed logical that the new shaft was the cause as I never had the problem before.

I got a new halfshaft and the vibration at 60 mph / 100 kph went away.

Also, get your differential fluid changed.

We had a vibration at about 60-70 mph, when the car was at about 160k miles or so. We replaced both inner CV joints--fixed the problem. Car is now at 243k miles no problems since then.

shafts are pretty easy to replace, and from what you describe have a good chance of fixing it.
