pics of my 3.2tl

ive been a member of this forum for a while but have never posted pics of my car - blame the lack of a digi cam. Anyway, here they are finally. Its a 96 3.2. Notable stuff is the 16 inch rims that i put on that came off an 04 civic si, and the "retro" phone! Enjoy. All comments are welcome.

My other baby: A 94 Accord Coupe

Once again, thanks for looking. BTW, accord looks "raped" because I installed a new stereo, and am putting in new speaker wire. Most of the pics were taken after some poor lighting - was dark by the time i had finished washing car( sorry). Plans in the future include:

Chroming shift plate
"Improving" tails - debating various methods: buy inspires, spray paint etc.
No clears in the front - I kinda like the amber right now
maybe some small 5' screens with dvd in the headrests

Comments welcome.

overall nice car man. i like the rims and how you put the acura symbol in for the H. good call. hehe. i think your accord needs a good wash too though. :P and i would think that the phone in car would be more expensive than a cell phone? maybe not, but either way it's all good. just make sure you vacuum the carpet to keep it so freash and so clean clean.

thanks dubcnea - phone came with car. the only numbers i can call to have a good long chat are "911" and some national cellular network that asks for a credit card number and supposedly bills a dollar a minute. I guess it might get me out of a clutch. And it Looks cool IMHO.

headrest screens are primarily for lil bro whose always whining, AND to look sorta understated "bling" Some guy on cardomain - believe the guy's name is "Dom" already did this. I probably wont cut up headrests - found some guy that will do the headrests for $100 if I buy screens.

Looks nice, I like the wheels. I wouldn't worry about the TV's though, being sixteen it may seem like the cool bling thing to do, but a few years down the road you might end up wishing you had that extra money for repairs or college. I know I wish I had more right now.

Looks like the accord isn't cared about as much, fix that debadge! I'm sure they would look better all cleaned up and with better lighting though.

Nice cars... the tl looks like it is well maintained. I really like that generation accord. I'm actually in the process of looking for one as a daily driver since someone crashed into my 93 accord which was my old daily driver. The tl looks babied compared to that accord. I wish I had a garage to park my cars in and work on them. (Hopefully this post goes through...the first time i typed this before i hit send my power went out stupid rain)

I envy 3.2 TL's because they can fit almost any 5 lug wheel... 2.5 has a 4 lug and that sucks... anyways, your car is looks clean... like the si wheels, gives the TL a diffrent look...

Dom is 96tl, he was an old mod on this board but he moved onto a bmw 3 series.

i think it's his TL. unless the Accord has exact same interior. look at last pic. plus he says something about it being a bit dirty from new radio and then his plans. i'm sure the owner could clear this up for us. explanation in order! hehe

sorry for the confusion there....the last pic is the one of my accord's interior. The only other shot with the accord is the rear shot of it parked in the garage.

slownlow: Steering wheel in accord is stock
mike: sorry, will resize pics next time.

I apologize for not cleaning accord! Its a daily driver - what else can i say. In fact, you guys have motivated me to clean it this weekend! Someone said they were looking for an accord of this generation - u will not be disappointed. I love it. Underpowerd, BUT Handles like its on rails - and thats with stock suspension, crappy 14 inch wheels and tires. I love the understated styling, and the coupe's lines are great. If I do get a scholarship to college, Im gonna used the money that Ive saved up to do an engine swap in the accord - ive been talking to my mechanic and i MIGHT put a J32 motor from a second gen tl in there, probably the one from a type s snce i want a six speed tranny. But judging my the pics of cornflakes motor, these tl motors seem to be beasts. Of course his is a c32. Accord of this gen was designed to take the old 2.7 from early legends. Hope this swap is doable. Any input from the Acura/Honda gurus (cough...Ken...cough...) would be appreciated.

And keep the comments coming.

That swap sounds very complicated, since the stock motor is a C27. Even if I find that generation accord it wouldnt stay stock very long since I have all the suspension off my old accord which is a direct bolt in for most of it.

if the stock V6 was a c27, would our c32's fit. a c32/5 or 6sp combo would be nice (and cheaper). i though that a longitudally mounted engine wouldn't fit.

It wouldn't and you already answered why.

With your 4 cylinder Accord, you wont be able to fit a C27 motor Sorry.

The Accord V6 of that era had a longer and totally different nose dimensionally.

And you cant fit a J series into our TL's, our engine bays arent wide enough.

You are correct, to make a longitudinal engine work in a transvers designed car, would be a nightmare. ANYTHING IS possible, but LOTS of time and $$ and a damned good tech working on it would be required. I'm sure if there's ROOM, then a 2nd gen TL motor would work, with quite a bit of effort still. But there's pretty much no way to put a C32 into an accord.

If Rod Millen can drop a Lexus V8 into an IS300, anything is possible. It's all about the Benjamins!!!

True. But at least the engine layout is the same in that case!

Its MUCH tougher to rotate an engine/tranny combo in a chassis.

I agree 100%, but it basically boils down to either being a backyard/regular mechanic's job or an ENGINEER type job, you know what I mean?

i agree that the nose and dimensions of the engine bay of the c27 accords are different. It might not fit in the bay in the present state. Im think if I relocated soe stuff like the battery etc. to the trunk, I could just squeeze it in. I had the same doubts, it a DAMN tight squeeze, but we'll see.

If all else fails, I have 2 options: Forced induction ala turbo or supercharger.
OR
H22a swap from a 92-96 prelude - about 195 horses. This swap would be easy to do as its been done many times before, and is well documented. But I just wanted to be the first to have a 3.2 V6

You'd be MUCH MUCH better off with a Prelude swap

I've read about crazy Honda swaps. The worst/craziest was an NSX swap into a CRX!

Thats the swap im was going for H22a accord I'll just have to see how much a replacement accord will cost me first. Since I don't want to deal with auto-manual swaps and getting the body panels fixed.

the craziest one was the 92-95 civic hatch with the 3.2 legend motor blown via twin turbo.. this was back in the dayz, around 97-98 i think, Pro-Import made a tube chassis, rear engine mount, 3.2L motor civic hatchback.. they had it dynoed nearly 1500hp, but they never finished.. it was methanol feed, but they kept having problems with electrical.. last i heard was that the car was just collecting dust in some apartment complex..

anyways... i friend put in a h22 in his 98 accord 4dr lx last year... if i remember correctly, the place he had it done charged him around 4800 installed.. that including the motor, 5 speed tranny, motor mounts, ecu, wire harness, and install..

4800 sound about right but I would like to do it myself to save the extra cash.
