ok i seriously need the right answer on 19

i am ordering them this week.
now what do i need

98 3.2 tl with ground control coilovers

225 30 19?

235 35 19?

45 offset?

44 offset?

Ive heard both. I want it to ride and the wheels to clear the fenders. Will the 235 rub? will the 44 or 45 offset rub.

I want to be able to lower the car and tuck the wheels if i want to. and i know if the offset is 1 mm off it will require i cut the lip on the rear fender. Please let me know asap

thanks
I need the real answer too, ive heard it rides rough and suggestions of a 235 but WILL that work and not make it skateboarded and me have to jack the car way up to clear??

thanks a million

Whats the news Colt, did you get them?

235/35 - 19 are really wide.

I wouldn't do 44 for a 3.2 TL, I'm running 45mm on a 3.2TL w/ 7inch wide rims and they are too close in the front... only one credit card width between the rims and brakes.

However NO ONE can tell you from just numbers if a certain size will cause rub or not. From the #'s you gave a safe answer is they might rub.

The design of the rims will determine if it will give you enough clearance with the calipers in the fronts. The rear isn't a problem and I hear 2.5's have different offset so always ask if they're speaking of 3.2TL or 2.5TL.

My 1998 TL 3.2 came with 65 mm offset alloy rims. I've read 55 mm is stock and i'm running 45mm and do not recommend it on a 3.2TL

Since the width of the rims were not listed from the 235mm width is much wider than stock 205/65-15. Regardless of what you do, you want the same diameters 205/40 - 19 will be the same width and diameters in a 19 inch tire as the 15 so from there if you want to go wider... could go with 235/35 - 19 and it's less than 1% diff in diameters.

Your other size 225/30 - 19 is just messed up.
that makes the tires much smaller but wider than stock.
meaning the wheels will rotate 40 times per mile MORE with these setup so it will toss your ODO off by 4.6%

Do this, take the 225mm width / 30 height (take width X .30 or height is 30% of width) - 19

Also the tire brand will make a diff on if it rubs or not, i.e. Kumho's have stiff side walls vs Conti's with round side walls. so kumho's width will be wider than Conti's on the same size tires.

If the rim's are 8 or 9 inches wide, the 45 mm offset is going to push that rim out pretty far. If you're into that look sure... that means it's going to rub.

take center of the rim where that offset is 0 and measure 45mm out.

or take a ruler and measure the width and offset it by 45mm from center and you can make a template of the width of the rim.
Then take the tire's width 225mm or 235mm and center that on top of the RIM template. This will give you a template of the tire.

keep the diameter the same.
