Noob to Forum and TL's Have ?
Hi Guys. I might be getting a 1997 TL 3.2 Prem. soon. I have a couple of questions about aftermarket and performance products. Hopefully you can help. So anyway I've been looking for aftermarket and performance parts for the TL I might be getting and I can't find much. I'm looking for a CF hood or aftermarkethood, Aftermarket Fenders also bodykits beside the one they have at andysauto. In performance wise I'm looking for full exhaust, Intakes, Pulleys and any thing else that will help the tl out like turbo or supercharger kit. I also have another question what does the tl 3.2 prem do in the 1/4 and 0-60. If you can supply any websites with the stuff I'm looking for even if their japanese or any other info that would be great. Thanks!

My intention were never to rice it. I'll pass on getting a civic. Just getting ideas of whats out there. Performance wise to help it breathe better. No z3 fenders I meant aftermarket replacement fenders the factory ones seem high. A personally this cf hoods look pretty claasy. I plan on putting a black paint job on it like the escalade black. Maybe you guys can help me with how to or what would class it.

Sorry to jump on you, but there is NO aftermarket support for this car. Most bodykits no longer exist (mugen) or are mucho $$ to get (skipper, hiro, azect). There is no exhaust, turbo, cats, nothing. There is a short-ram intake for the 3.2 though. Also, most of the mods you are going to do are gonna be universal parts.
Many people on the board go for the JDM look with the Honda Inspire Tails, JDM headlights, among other JDM parts. But, they are expensive too. Good luck.

Think about how large the model year production runs are thou. The Vigor (the model the TL kinda replaced) had a production run of 32000 over 4 years. That's very small compared to Accords, Legends, and other Honda products. Take out 1% of the cars that crash and what not and add on that people are now retiring their cars aftermarket parts are looking at a market of about 320 (1%) people who want to modify their cars. Barely enough just to cover any development and research costs compared to research and development for a second generation TL.

yeah dog, make it classy. its a luxury car. as for places to get parts, just try ebay. ebay got JDM tail lights that are red/clear whereas the oem are red/orange/clear. you can get clear front bumper lights too on ebay. i can show you jdm pictures of what you can do to your car...kind of like a "goal" to get your car looking all jdm'ed out. trust me, if you saw the pics ill be posting, you'd forget about all the "riced" parts.
oh yeah, as for performance parts...forget about it. most things have to be custom made. air intake for your 3.2?? air intakes for legends will fit your car. headers? nope.. cat back exhaust? i don't think so.. however universal mufflers are available. i'll post up pics right now but im too drunk to be posting up pics at 345am right now. payce

The TL is one comfortale and classy car. It's looks scream, "I'm too classy to race ricers."
The TL is pretty fast. I beat my friends (rice expert) 93 Honda Civic with an 1.7 I4, 5 speed manual. His car wasn't heavily modified, but it did have some mods. I don't know much about it but I know he had a body bit, cold air intake, pulled out a lot of stuff (weight reduction) and some other engine stuff. He said it had about 170HP and with a weight of 1700LBs. I beat him in my stock TL.
The thing I noticed with the TL is that it's really bad in the lower RPMs. And as soon as you floor it, all the wieght goes to the rear wheels, which leaves the fronts spinning for control.

Thats how all FWD cars are off the line, all the weight transfers to the rear, hence why RWD is considered optimal for racing. On the other hand, our cars are great in the snow.

Also is there any nice grills for our TL. Do you guys think a black escalade paint job would look good? Also should i get the emblems shaved off? Just wondering what would look good. Any pics of some classy TL's? I also wanted to let you know that it was the interior that drawed my attention and intention to the car. Man thats some sweat interior that black leather and wood grain trim.

I have a black TL, here's an idea of what it could look like for you. BTW, my car is not stock in these pics. I'll take some new pics soon as these are over a year old.

The TL does rock in the snow and rain as well. I just wish my car didn't have these cheap tires which seem to do nothing but slip (and they're pretty new so I have to stick with them for a long time). Wish I had some Goodyear or Bridgestone tires.

Its your tires then, my TL is probably the 2nd most stable FWD car I've driven besides the RL.
