Newbie Questions

Hi everybody, I just bought a 96 2.5tl in feb. and am wondering about a few things:

First off, are there any things I can do to give it a little more power? Not too drastic, I have a limited budget.

What size tires can I fit, I currently have the stock chromes but they just look kinda small.

Any other thoughts or tips would be highly appreciated.

as for power, you can add a cold air intake or a short ram for about 100 bucks. exhaust system will probably run you a couple hundred. you can also get a computer chip, but that's kinda pointless. or you can NOS that baby for about 400 bucks. as for tires, i think you can fit all the way up to 20 inch rims depending on the offsets, most of us have 18 inchers on ours.

and welcome to the forums =)

definately a good investment on the TL

Thanx for the input.
About the cold air/short ram intake: I've had trouble finding one that fits my car. I've called tons of places and the only place that had one said it was gonna run $225. I was kinda shocked at the price. Any place u recommend?
Also, I remember reading in an import mag. that venom makes some kind of add on chip that increases hp by 25%. Is that the real deal or a gimmic? I was also thinking of getting the Tornado Fuel Saver thing. That any good?

tornado = BS!! dont fall for that crap. someone on this forum bought one and didnt see no improvment and didn't recommend it to us.

as for intakes, i dont know where you found one that would sell for 225 b/c im sure its expensive b/c its "custom" made. there are no intakes made for 1st gen TL's. there are however drop in k&n air filter which was just recently made in feb of this year! im planning on buying a k&n drop in filter really soon!

oh and by the way, welcome to the forum bro!

seriously dude, for the CAI you can just make it yourself. it's really easy, we've got directions up on the site. i think the venom chip is something that simply tricks the computer to think that you're stepping on the gas harder than you really are. and don't get the tornado.

I think I might go with the K&N. Does the tornado give any improvement in gas economy? I've been looking around the forum and I see people talking about building an Ice Box. Wuts the difference between that and a CAI? About the venom thing, I looked at the ad again and it said no decrease in fuel economy.

I've been looking around and I see that many of you have changed your interior lights to blue. Can anyone give me a step by step process on how to do this and what lights to buy. I was thinking about buying some LEDs. Any good?

no problem. i purchased the PIAA Xtreme white bulb (the 16 bucks one) i am so satisfied with it!! at 1st i didn't think it made a difference but when you see it lit at night, OH MAN!! it really makes a big difference, trust me. if you have no idea of what xtreme white looks like, just think of the color of HID. it looks similar to that!

If I buy aftermarket bulbs, do I have to worry about things heating up and melting?

depends on which bulb you're talking about. headlights? maybe but that depends on the wattage of the bulbs i believe. if your talking about interior bulbs, most likely not

Anyone checked out NOPI.COM? I just went on there and they have the clear bumper lights for $76, the stock spoiler for $173, and NGK spark plug wires for $41.

You can get the clear bumper lights cheaper at ProCarParts

You can also try ebay too, since it can get pretty cheap.

Can anyone point me to the link on how to build a CAI? I searched for it but only found one good one and then the link it had didn't work. 96_2.5TL, do you know if the turbonator is basically the same as the tornado? I think I still want to get one. How much did it cost for your OBX intake and all your engine mods?
