Newbie here. How do you pull fault codes on these cars?
I want to know how to pull fault codes from the check engine light flashing.
On my audi you insert a fuse into the fuel pump relay, remove it and the check engine light flashes to reveal the codes.
On mopar cars you turn the ignition on and off a few times fast to desplay the fault codes.
How does one retrieve them in an acura? and if possible , do you have a link to where I can find fault code charts to match up a number with a problem? thanks in advance! - Brian

Borders books or other big bookstores will carry 20 dollar books on different model Acuras and Hondas. These books do have the codes in them.
To get the code, you need to find the diagnostic plug. In most Acuras and Hondas it is in the passenger side footwell. The book will explain it. It may be different between the 2.5 and 3.2 so read carefully.
Basically all you need to do is use a paperclip to complete the circuit and it'll flash the code with the "check engine light".

All cars sold in the US after 96 had to be OBD 2 compatible (on board diagnostics) for emissions, thats what the plug behind the shifter is for. You cant use jumpers to pull codes on OBD 2 cars, you have to use a scanner. You can go to checker or autozone or something and they either rent you one or if theyre cool theyll just let you use it. The Auto X-ray is probably what they use and it wont tell you nearly as much as the dealers scanner or even a Tech 2 or a Snap-on. You have a check engine light and a maintenence required light, the engine light needs the scanner but the maintenance light just means you need to take it in for scheduled service, look in the owners manual and it tells you how to reset the maintenance light.

All you need is a book from Barnes and Noble or Borders that is about the Acura TL and has the error codes.

Your right, there are a few exceptions that give you limited info, but the TL isn't one of them. If you use a decent scanner it will tell you what the code means so dont worry about knowing them.
