Need to id cooling system part betw. motor and firewall
Can someone help my identify what part this is so that I can buy and replace it?
The part that I need is a black device that connects two sections of coolant hose going from the back of the motor to the firewall.
I have no idea what it is and I couldn't find it in any diagrams.
I will take a picture of it.
Does anyone know what this is?
Today the hose detached and coolant splattered all over the firewall behind my motor. Apparently the solid pipe on this part that the hose connects to broke, leaving only a short piece for the hose to clamp on to.
I was able to clamp it on for the short drive back home, but it popped off again as I was pulling in.
Please help.

I don't see a cable attached.
I looked up that part name and I found it at autozone

Thanks for your help.
Has anyone changed these before? It looks like it should be simple but I would appreciate any tips. Thanks again.

I changed it today. I removed two brackets, one that holds that big black box in the second picture, and the bracket that the heater control valve is connected to. It's visible in my first pic, the flat surface with the screw head showing.
That gave me enough room to operate.
I just loosened the clamp behind the valve and pulled it out of the rear hose.
Connected the new valve to the front and back hoses. There's also a metal arm that comes out of a nearby cylinder that needs to fit into a white plastic stopper that's on the driver's side of the valve. I fitted that into place and then reinstalled the bracket that the valve was on, and then the larger bracket above it.
That's it. It could have taken me less than an hour if I moved those brackets at first.
Thanks for the help.
