Hey guys, I'm new to the Acura community and am looking to buy either a first or second generation TL. I have a couple questions since this will be the first Acura I have bought.


1.) What kind of mechanical problems have you had with your TL and at approximately how many miles did it occur at?


2.) Aprroximately what kind of MPG are you guys getting?


3.) How many miles have you guys had on your cars without any major mechanical problems?


4.) I'm also looking at possibly an Accord, is the TL a better investment than the Accord?

 

first off....do not buy the 2nd gen TL!!! you'll be replacing transmissions likes crazy, i know someone who has had 4 different ones installed since owning it in '99. they had major problems with them during the 2nd gen years, so stay away, stay faaaaaaaaaaar away.

1) i've never had any real issues but i guess you could call the timing belt replacement a problem but every car has to have that done sooner or later

2) on average, with mostly highway driving and some city driving i get about 24 mpg

3) right now i have 138,000 and nothing major has happened. some guys on here thought have over 200,000

4) give me a TL over an accord anyday. you'll be so much happier with a TL.


all that being said, i'm trying to sell my TL right now. wanna take it off my hands?
