leather seat care

My beige leather seat, driver seat side cushion, is wearing out. the main beige part is fading out and a white piece is showing. How do i prevent it from further breakdown?? I don't want it to rip all the way through to see foam cushion

Get a new leather seat cover from Acura. They're not that expensive and will have your seat bottom....and back if you need it looking and smelling brand new. I had all mine replaced several years ago and they're still looking almost new.

Acura is as expensive as it gets. My driver seat is beyond repair as the foam is showing. Acura charges $1,200 + taxes for just the bottom of the seat. If you order it online, it's $996 + shipping.

I guess it's a lot cheaper to have an upholstery shop get the leather and stitch the seat for you.

No way it's that expensive. I had the both front seats, cushions, heaters, and leather covers replaced for $300+/-....I don't remember the exact number. The labor was covered under warranty due to the butt print issue. When they ordered the leather covers first...I saw the invoice and it was something like $165-175 for the bottom part....$300something for the whole seat. The cushions and heater elements were around $100each. Since I was swapping '04 covers for '05 style.....it required replacing the cushion, leather, and heater elements. Just replacing the bottom leather cover wouldn't be that expensive...less than what the upholstery shop would charge....and the match would be perfect. You won't need cushions or heaters....just the leather cover. Check with your parts dept....and the internet for genuine Acura leather covers...they'll match perfectly...and unless they raised the price in the last few years.....not that expensive. Try getting warranty coverage for premature wear....or at least get them to cover labor. They did it for me.....also...they paid for half of the cost of the cushions and heaters.

$1200 sounds like the whole seat...not just the covers which look like a glove in a plastic bag.

I'm guessing you guys have a Gen1 or Gen2 TL......my experience was with the '04tl...still under warranty. I know the leather is different. I had a Legend...and the leather was almost as thick as shoe leather compared to the TL.

The whole seat will cost you $996 (bottom) + $858 (back seat trim) + $279 (headrest assembly) = $2,133 + shipping + installation charges. And these prices are after a 20% discount.

Click on the link in my previous post. [The part that says $1,200 + Taxes].

I couldn't find a Fabrion franchisee in my area, so I submitted a request for information on their website. I also e-mailed them at franchises@fabrion.net but I never got a response from them either ways.
