Just curious...

hey everyone, haven't been on in a while because i bought a jeep recently (don't worry, didn't give up the faithful inline five ), but i was just curious if anyone has ever seen my car. It may seem a bit rediculous, but my acura looked like a cop car. I loved it, i had the complete 8 strobe system, a whip, a siren, and the p-71 "stripe" across the back. the site is www.cardomain.com/id/fallenshadow - just let me know what you think. i didnt have any money for wheels or anything at the time, so i discovered some ways to accent the acura's body - i'll post some pics later.

oh, and those are some early pictures when the antenna looked like crap

oh, and please disregard the vtec emblem. again, early days (when i thought that the vacuum-operated, dual stage manifold bypass valve was some form of vtec ). but the funny thing is, i could tell some "tuner" kid that it was indeed vtec, and could show him it operating in the engine bay, and he'd go crazy trying to figure out stuff about this miracle "5 cylinder vtec" engine. it'd be great

semi cop-like. but no force will use a honda, acura, etc. that wouldn't be 'American'. heh, too bad they'd prob. last longer. and c'mon, they can get Neuspeed stuff for em!

hmmm... cop like... I always wondered what a TL would look like if you tried to make it look like a cop car... sorry not feeling it... also, why or what is the purpose of not clipping all the clips to the intake... wouldn't that let more dirt and debry (spelling) into the intake??? one last but stupid question... do you like your TL???

before i go on... let me say... to everyone their own... its your car and you do what you want to do with it... just asking some simple questions and giving my

What i do like is your engine compartment... i like the idea of how you painted the fuel rail protector (the plastic thingy...) also the debadge... not feeling the ACURA down the center... i might just have to debadge mine all the way... I'll have to somehow find a way to debadge the front w/o it looking all nasty...

OFF TOPIC: ATT ACURASNAKE!!! when are the Saber Emblems coming in???

the pictures of the clips unattached was for a question someone asked me. I prop open my airbox - it performs sooo much better this way. but, the filter is still attached, so no worries

and without the antenna and flag on the back, the stripe did work really well. I'll have to post some angle pictures, it just fit really nicely to the tl's rear.

but come on yall, at least i cleared my taillights

Yeah, those tails look really nice, I didn't even notice them the frist time around (didn't sleep well and I'm sick). Could you clear them, then smoke them? OoOoOo the possibilites... I just need to know how...

More pictures would be awesome too, and info about clearing the tails, and did you need amber bulbs to put in?

Some of my more gullible female friends (and a few male ones) think that I look like a cop car at night with the foglights on...

i can see how there could be more air flow. but it looks as if your filter is sticking to the top piece....and it looks clear under that. that wouldn't stop anything from going in via the opening, just thru the normal intake. it's nutsy, but if it works for you.....by all means.

at night, the tl's taillights look verrrry crown vic-like from a distance.

and about the intake, it is completely filtered, as the filter is still attached to the important half (towards engine). it's pretty much just a way to quickly eliminate the whole mess of pre-filter plumbing.

i know this stuff sounds ghetto, but i've discovered some pretty cool things about the tl just by tinkering like that

I'm pretty sure he put frost vinal over the tails, I saw a thread ALONG time ago that someone was going to do that. If you enlarge the pic, you can barely see that it is still orange underneath the vinal strip.

frost vinyl? i opened them up and cleared them (removed the orange/clear refractor) and put a strip of refractor from flourescent lighting in it's place. I then used 3157 (?) bulbs that i modified to fit the 7440 socket. the bulbs are amber; that's probably what you see

That's exactly what I was gonna do. Did you use the oven technique to get them apart? Let me know, all of these little things are DEFINATELY being done this spring now that I am puting the motor in my car......

man, the tail-lights were a fairly bad experience. I knew how to do it, but i rushed myself. I used the heat-gun method, which only heats the eopxy sealant one area at a time, while the work i just did cools down... should've used the oven. I chipped a couple areas (especially the front corner on the sides). I just simply did not have enough experience with it. DO NOT RUSH THIS. Figure everything out first. I regret doing it the way I did, and ended up calling the junk yard that same night, trying to get a price quote on new taillights. If I could redo it, I'd put them in the oven (after I find out the correct temp/times), pull them out, seperate a little bit and slice, then repeat...until they're seperated. there's a really good thread on here somewhere...

and thanks for the comment on the jeep, man - i'm getting rid of the body lift soon and doing a spring-over...rides too rough and doesn't flex well enough as a spring-under..

Legend Type II. Goes in middle of Jan. :-D STILL considering doing the 5 spd swap at the same time, if my motor holds out and I have the cash together for the install, I will start buying the parts for the 5 spd and if I get them all before my motor dies completely, then I'll just do it.
