Intro to site: 98 TL 2.5
So up until I got the car I hadn't seen any 5 cylinders before. Anyways, this car runs great I got it with high mileage (230xxx) and it still performs great, third owner and previous owners were ladies that only put highway miles.
Couple of things I did right after I got the car were changing the timing belt, water pump, tranny flush, oils checked and topped off, brakes and a good wash. She's been running smooth ever since, but I have been getting some small complaints from her.
One is the trouble of switching from park to drive, it kind of locks and I've either had to pump the brakes a couple of times until I hear a click and I can shift or I've had to put the car on neutral and start that way. Searching off this site I've narrowed it down to either brake switch behind brake pedal or a blown fuse. My mounted light is off so I don't know if that's related or not.
Also I changed my bulbs on my headlights and only my high beams work? Never had this problem changing a light before...
Also I've been driving down the road at a red light, car is in idle, and on giving her some gas she jumped so hard I thought I got rear ended. Seemed like a shifting problem but this is a rare occasion maybe 3 times. Any ideas on what it could be?
Anyways, GREAT site, a lot of information on problems and fix its, it is very useful to me. I'll take some pics soon, cause I have a lot more questions regarding modifications and you guys seem to have a better idea on how and where to look for solutions.
Peace!

Welcome. If you could check one thing for me:
Since you said that the third brake light isn't working, could you try to see if your cruise control still works? It's something that's been nagging me even though I no longer have the car.
As for the kicking, a 3x drain and fill should help with that. The procedure is costly, but you never want to do a tranny flush on a Honda transmission. You change the filter screen and drain the old fluid, then fill with fresh, then drain again, etc. Do this until the fluid comes out the same colour as when you put it in.
~Cheers~

Cruise control does not work. I don't have a manual on how it should be activated but I mean just from messing with it, it does absolutely nothing.
I had my engine oil changed couple days ago and they said my fuel filter needs to be changed. Very awkward and random when it does the "kicking" it just kind of jumps really hard into second gear so it kind of worries me

Welcome!
The cruise control has a 'master' button to the left of the steering column. That button deactivates/activates the controls on the steering wheel.

Hmm... Assuming the issue is that you're activating the master switch and the cruise light is coming on but it's not maintaining speed, try putting a light bulb in the third brake light. Make sure it's a regular bulb, not an LED. The bulb number is 7440, and once it's been replaced get on the cruise control again. If I'm right, it should start working.
