Alright fellow 1st Gen'rs. I won an eBay auction for these guages and won the auction for $54.95 + $8.95 S/H. I got them Wednesday night and installed them in about 2 hours. The hardest part was figuring out how to take the dash apart. After that, it was a breeze. I also had my D4 light out, so I switched the 1 bulb in there. After putting everything back together, there was still the problem about powering them up. I spliced into the stock dimmer on the dash and mounted the indiglo dimmer switch. Let me tell you, WHAT A DIFFERENCE! They are bright as hell at night, so bright you probably shouldn't drive with them turned all the way up.

are there instructions out there that tells us "new guys" how to take apart the dash/cluster?
also, i need a tutorial/guide on how to splice the wiring so i can attach it to my stock dimmer.
BASISON - you have instructions??
oh, whats the bulb size/number for the D4? Mine went out also..

do a search for my screen name and you'll find instructions for taking out the guage cluster...i posted them a while back. also, i just switched the D4 light bulb with the D1 bulb since i rarely use that gear anyway...if you dont want to do that, then the dealer sells them for around 5 bucks.
alright, i found them for you...here they are:
1 - Remove the 2 screws on top under the dashboard lip that goes over the guages.
2 - Remove the 2 screws on each side of the steering wheel. Just lower the wheel all the way down and there are rubber flaps covering the screws.
3 - Gently pull out the whole piece that goes around the cluster. Don't be afraid to pull it but be gentle. Its connected to the AC vent on the drivers side and the hazard switch and clock. Be careful with the vent. You'll have to unplug the clock and hazard switch.
4 - Once you have that out there are 4 screws around the cluster. Take those out.
5 - Take out the cluster. Watch out because when you take it out the plastic over the guages scratches easily. You can put some masking tape over it to be safe. Also, be careful to not scratch the steering wheel column cover. You can tape that up also. The cluster barely fits through the hole so you have to manuever it a little bit.
6 - Look in the middle of the cluster and you'll see the skinny row of bulbs for the shifter. I didn't even go buy a new one. I just borrowed the D1 bulb since I never use it anyway.
7 - Put it all back together!

i recently purchased Otto R Racing reverse gauages for my '96 3.2 TL.. i need help hooking up the wires..
the gauges comes with a toggle switch to switch between green and blue and has a dial that shows min and max brightness.. that toggle switch is then connected to a little black box which in turn has wires that connect to the gauges and a pair of red/black and a red solid wire. i'm guessing that the red and black wire is the negative side and the solid red is the positive side. i need to know where the red and black wire goes. i want to tap it onto my light switch (you know when you turn on your lights the dash comes on). does anyone know what i'm talking about? does anyone have a tutorial or pictures that they can show me?

Sorry no pics or tutorials but I can give you some advice. When I installed indiglo’s in my TL (ill, no offense), I tapped into 2 wires directly from one of the cluster plugs. Get a test light and test a few of the red wires that go into the cluster plugs while you’re flicking the headlight switch on & off. I don’t remember exactly which harness I tapped into but each individual guage has its own power wire that’s tapped into the headlight switch. The ground is easy. There’s a few ground spots back there behind the cluster.

I hate our stupid Canadian KILOMETER PER HOUR system sometimes. Anyone EVER hear of these gauges in KPH?! I LOVE them, but I'm not smart enough to convert from MPH to KPH in my head fast enough and I can't affor any more tickets!!! LOL

i did it, i installed indiglo gauges on my 96 3.2 TL.. looks nice.. but i have a problem... i think when i was putting on the indiglo, i might've screwed up the RPM needle. when i rev the car up, it'll go to 3,000 but then it won't go anymore.. it'll be stuck on 3,000. and when i let off the gas, it'll be stuck at 3,000 for half a second and drop back down to 2 or 1 fast.... i don't know what i should do. a friend of mine told me to take everything apart again, and use my finger to manual move the needle to 8,000 RPM and let it fall back down by itself to see if its hung up on anything... is that right?
