I'm F'n pissed

One of my catz headlights burned out just as I was leaving tonight to go to the gym. I've only had them 4 months, and this is BS. Lights last way longer than that. Anyone encounter this, or know if a warranty?

sorry to hear ... the reason that the Hyperwhite bulbs burn out is cause: a standard hyperwhite bulb has abot 110 watts going to it causing the gasses inside to burn hotter which makes the light brighter and after a while it causes the filament to just burst ... thats why HID's are so great because they only take 35 watts to run and will out perform any " hyperwhite bulb" ... even tho the hids are soo expensive it s worth it cause they take less power prduce more light and last alot longer

I think HIDs last about 2500-3000 hours.

Don't feel bad man, you're one of the many of us who couldn't afford HID yet.

Same thing happened to me. They lasted about 4 months. After 2 or 3 sets I got annoyed because instead of wasting money on superwhites, you could've saved for HIDs.

the main problem is that people use factory harnesses to power their superwhites, you need to get an after market headlight harness to supply the power. ppl are misconceived, the factory light harness does not supply enough power to the lights, therefore they burn out.

just a question but why would they burn out if they dont have enough power and what is an aftermarket harness gonna do ..

unless the aftermarket piece uses relays that conects to the battery and when you switch the headlights on it opens the relay then all the harness is extendig the wire

That is definetly not why they burn out. If your wires or plugs melt, then thats the problem. Superwhites bulbs are known to blow out early.

So true.. about the wire and the plug melting from strong bulbs.. I had Xenon 90 watts.. and it meltd my plugs.. very sad.. but it still works.. have to hit it couple times when it doesnt work.. i put my stock lights back in..dont want to completly destroy my plugs.. Dealer said they would COST ME $120.00 EACH HEADLIGHT.. TO REPLACE SOME WIRES AND THE TWO PLUGS. I SAID I WILL WAIT UNTIL THEY COMPLETLY DONT WORK.. 120.00.. DAM

OK. In AnKiiGrL's case, she would have needed an aftermarket heavy duty harness. Once you have that all you have to worry about is the headlight reflector cracking from all the heat. :wow: I guess it all depends on the bulbs though. I had Eagle (?) 90/100 watt superwhites for about 4 months and I never had problems. Then I got HIDs because I was getting worried about damaging something. Alot of people were warning me about that so I if didnt listen, something probably would have happened. lol.

Hey, you must've posted while I was typing.

Anyway, I KNOW I seen a site that sold those wires. I think they were like $100 though. Do a search or e-mail Tim. Maybe he can get them.
