i give up...

well guys, this is the end of my unique 1G TL.

right now i am in a positive mood, even after the body shop said there was no hope of fixing it, geico is going to give me a check for the value of my car, i just hope they don't f*k me over and i get 4k+

this has been a TREMENDOUS lesson to me about the importance of big brakes and the presence of ABS, me driving around with my small shitty brakes and a missing ABS sensor i've officially learned my lesson and will make a BBK the first thing i do with any car i get in the future.

i'm not gunna hide behind the fact that i cried hard when i got out of my car to see my baby, the one thing i've cared about for the last year in such terrible and irrepairable condition.

i feel like i've lost a great friend, but still i stay positive.

if you're still reading, i was going about 40 about to get off at an exit on the souther state pkwy, i was talkin to my buddy and when i looked at the road i saw a stopped SUV about 100ft away, i was calm... applied brake pressure, but to no avail i realized my brakes had locked up, i tried to steet but nothing.

the end

i'm hopefully looking to get a 240 next, or maybe even a nice off-roading jeep wrangler

your input on a car for me please, and a side order or mourning for my baby

i took this with tears in my eyes

hey man, im a 2g'er just happened to venture off into these forums... its heart breaking to see that... but hey you get a fresh start now, youve gotta stay positive... obviously the best part is that you and your buddy are alright... as for next cars either a 4th or 5th gen maxima i would suggest to you depending on your budget... i had a 2000 maxi as my first car before i sold it for the TL... while i dont regret my decision to upgrade, i do often miss it... they are extremely reliable and pretty quick.. and many mods are available for either gen.. not to mention if you like driving manual they are offered in stick.

buy it back from insurance and sell the parts. You could get it back for like 300 bucks and still get the money from them totaling it.

If anything id just put used primer fenders on the shit and drive it in the winter.

One more gone... I say cut the frame and weld in a new radiator support. Drive it with a salvage title, if it doesn't cost too much... I know it sounds hypocritical coming from me since I decided to part with mine, but there's a black UA3 I've been eyeing, .

~Cheers~

Just find another one. You don't want to drive a car that has been that severely wrecked.

It probably won't track straight, it could have serious issues later on, and it won't protect you in another crash.

While you say that....

Friend bought it back from insurance for 300 bucks after sliding on black ice into a guardrail at 70. Sold his b20vtec motor for 4200 bucks, gave me the car for free.

-Sectioned in the frame rail from the shocktower(frame rail 50 bucks from junkyard
-99-00 core support 150 bucks
-ctr headlights 400 bucks
-99-00 fenders 50 bucks used from some riceboy that got z3 fenders
99-00 front bumper 50 bucks used from some riceboy that got a shogun or some shit and didnt want his
-99-00 ctr grill used with headlights 50 bucks
-99-00 used carbon fiber vis hood 200 bucks
-gallon of championship white paint.

Fixed myself for free.

Then i put stock 4 lug suspension on it, steelies, and an ls motor and still traded it for a car i sold within 3 months for 7000$ So that car went from a total peice of shit, to with just a little bit of money and time invested, a badass ride.

The car was used for road racing also, I cut the entire shock tower off and welded a new one on, and it outhandled built road course cars on a daily basis(sometimes even passing them on less than 4 wheels)

The car started out way worse than your tl. All your car needs is little stuff. The way the hit is i dont see the frame being damaged besides the core support. The rest is bodypanels which are dirt cheap

if you look in the last pic under the battery, you can barely see the seam sealer over the area the frame is sectioned into

another under hood shot after

rags to riches brother.....

buy it back,,, you can part it out for more money worst case senario. or even just tow it to the junk yard and make 1000 on it at least

Worth keeping, mine got hit in the front and the back and I got it fixed under $2000 with paint and got a wax job, It was totaled, the parts that I needed were front pass Heads, both fenders, rear bumper, rear driver Qtr. panel and rear driver tails... I bought JDM heads and Tails for $530 shipped from Japan...

P.S. Enuff paint for the whole car...

BBK is kind of useless unless you track the car. If you maintain the stock sized brakes it'll be fine.

Good luck with the 240, those cars are known money pits because there are always parts you'll want to change. My friends S13 has cost him so much money, but it is a great car to drive especially since he just put in a new turbo like a week or two ago.

my airbags were not deployed, and i am most likely putting my next car on the track.

i found a few nice cars on craiglist, and speaking of VG30's i found a few nice 300zx for sale with high mileage and no TT, most likely i'll buy the one i found for 3k that has 142k miles on it and swap in a new VG30DET + the tranny for about 2500, so basically i'll be buying a brand new 300zx with TT and a t-top, 2 seater for about 5500

2 sc63 is amazing, you guys are crazy. I've always wanted to try the sc61 with the S cover and anti-surge bullet holes, but when it was time to buy a turbo for our project car they jacked up the price.

I am sooo Late!
Man, I am sorry dude, you were so excited and getting your car all fixed up the way you liked it and then it gets taken away. I was at the same point in my ownership with my car. I had loved it for 7 years, and had just started to really try and fix it up. Anyway, I don't have to tell you that the best news is that you and your buddy are alright, and I am overjoyed to see that your attitude is so good about it. Good luck with your next ride and I hope that you keep it in the Family!

yea they jack you anymore for a 360 degree thrust (non bb) turbo. Very efficient, but id get a garrett gt series for the money, well a little more..

The anti surge housings also tend to spool a little quicker for some reason. heh

He sold that car and has an s2000 now. I think hes going to do some serious shit to that and make it a drift car.

DAMN HOMIE....i feel your pain man, my estimate was close to $4000, so you are looking at something within that range, hey did your grill trim make it? best thing to do in your case is to part out the car, save a lil bit and go get another one
