You should replace them yourself. You'd save a lot of money!! I remember I replaced mine for only $30 and the pads come with a lifetime warranty so if the pads wear out, I can replace them for free.

Just one tip, save the shims, without the shims, the brakes would definitely squeal!!

I've seen the shop manual pages for it, and the front pads look pretty easy, doesn't look like there is much more than a couple screws and clips on each side. The only thing that makes me nervous is how vital they are, but I think I am going to go for it next time.

If you DIY remember to turn the rotors. If you dont turn the rotors then the whole job takes no more than 20 minutes. Its very easy to install. Here the DIY

I had a mechanic replace my pads/rotors about 6 months ago. I've been getting vibration while braking which he claims is because I didn't break them in properly and the rotors need to get resurfaced.

I'd like to try working on these myself instead of taking them back and paying the guy for the labour.

I have the service manual and looking through that it seems fairly straight forward, is the rotor job easy as well?

What about those performance rotors/pads that they have that cardomain link, where can you find those?

Replacing the rotors is very easy. I got some rotors from Autozone for my 98 3.2 for about 60.00 - you will need an impact screwdriver to remove the rotor, I think I paid about 8 to 10 for that at autozone. once you get the whole brake assembly out of the way you use the impact screwdriver to remove the screw holding the rotor to the hub. It's really straight froward.

for those who do not know an Impact screwdriver is a device that has a bit (hex, flathead, phillips, etc) on one end and the other end you hit with a hammer/mallet.
when you strike, it turns the bit.

If you have a 3.2 it will be very easy for you to do yourself. If you have a 2.5 you're most likely going to get to a point at which you give up unless you have good automotive experience.

Thanks for the info.

Once I remove the wheels, what should I check to make sure it is a warped rotor problem and not something else?

One more thing, what about the pads? The pads i'm assuming are going to have plenty left on them, do I need to put a new set on with the new rotor(s) or can I use the same one's?
