How do u know?
when or if you need to change yur tranny fluid/filter. my car shifts fine and has 78 or 79k on it but it is a 96 so i am thinking that it may need one. but i don't want to mess with it if it doesn't need one, i'm sure it wouldn't hurt but u know.

ok i may have just answered my own question.
you change it if its no longer pinkish red?
like if its black....but what if its still reddish. the previous owner may have changed it. but its not like new fluid or anything.

If it is still the pinkish color I wouldn't bother.
It should be done every 50,000 miles.
I would wait until 85,000 to do it.
Then when you replace the tranny fluid, also replace the tranny screen as well.
It will help kepp the shifting smooth.

I change mine regardless of the pinkish color at 20K. I lied, if the pinkish color is still there and there is no burnt smell, I keep it for another 5K.
I let the tranny unchanged (drain and fill) on my CRV to about 30K, the fluid was burnt, dark. After my drain and fill, the CRV was shifting smoothly again! Uses 4 qts, same as the AcK.
