How could I determine whether my diff. was really r&r'd?

I have had a hell of a time dealing with the shops that have touched my car, I have never accused them of not actually performing the work. MY GIRLFRIEND is the one who suspects that the shop I paid to remove and replace my differential actually didn't do anything of the sort. Sure enough none of the bolts look like they have been touched at all, there is just white paint and locktite all over the differential. Anybody have any idea of what to look for to figure out what I want to know? It is just for kicks, the shop burnt me either way and I have already done everything I can do.

Thanks!
