HID questions
I'm new here and just wondering some specs on getting a set of HIDs. I know its been discussed here before, but I just want to get some stuff clear! Tired of my bulbs getting burned out!!
1) Any reliable set of kits out there that will last? So far my friends have told me Philips and Hellas are pretty good, anything else besides them 2?
2) Since we use H4 bulbs, what happens if we just get the H4 hid kit w/ the low beam?? what happens to the high beam?
3) what you guys think about the dual hi/low beam kit? any good?

theres a brand out there thats supposedly the best. its spelled something like 'mccoullough" or something like that.
if you just get the h4 low beam, you loose high beam and therefor may result in failure to pass state inspection
dual beam is prob the safe way to go but youll pay couple hundred bucks more for dual
you do know aftermarket HIDs are illegal?

Well, the aftermarket HID's are only illegal if they are not leveled properly. Our headlight housings were not meant to have HID's, so they reflect up so much excess scattered light to the point it is almost dangerous. I have a set of Hella 7000K dual beams, and they are so bright that they are blinding...but I just love the way they look!

Are the McCulluch bulbs clear glass or tinted blue? Stay away from the tinted bulbs. Those are not true 6000K bulbs.
As far as bulbs go I would stick with Philips or Osram. Ballasts I would stick with Philips, Osram, Hella & Panasonic. You'll see many kits that use Philips bulbs but different ballasts.
There's a company on ebay that sells complete Philips Ultinon kits for a little under $500. They come with a one year warranty and all the components are made by Philips. I haven't bought anything off them yet but I plan on getting a set for my fogs. HIDs are illegal to sell in the US. Get them while you can.

I'm thinking about getting the McCulloch HID kit. I was reading another forum and this guy was doing a group buy. Many subscribers to that forum bought the kit and said it worked perfectly. If you guys want to read it, its www.**************** and there is a forum named - ultrabrightlights.
This would be such a nice xmas present!!

ACDADDY, I was thinking on getting 6000k, you can check out pictures on the site i posted on my first entry. The 5300k looks to white and the 8000k is too blue. I want something in between, 6000k is mostly white, with a tint of blue.
I got pulled over once by some dum cops here because my aftermarket headlights were too blue. But I had it taken care of, because I knew one of the captains in the precinct.

It was me and i love um look great awsome illumination, easy install, and fool proof wireing plug and play. Oh and they are not tinted they are clear and bye the way i think McCulluch has a duel beam HID now but they are like 600-700 bucks i think. Ive had mine for about a year now and they are doing fine no problems.
my bulb just went.. i gotta get new bulbs.. lolz... it should arrive in a week.. i almost had to buy a whole nother kit until i found this site w/ replacement bulbs... but i heard lots of good stuff about hella... i have a hanabi kit which is awesome in both the headlights and the fogs...
