HID Halogens?

A HID system consists of a true xeon gas filled bulb and igniters, right? So I guess my real question is what kind of bulbs are people running in their cars that look the closest to HID's? For the past 4 years I've been running Sylvania Silver Stars. Any suggestions...other than upgrading/retrofitting to projection HID's?

^ Yup, for China stuff that'll last 3-6 months and you have to grind down to fit, but it's almost the same price as those Silverstars, so why not?

yea all ive heard was replace the fuse with a better quality one or it'll start to flicker. otherwise its plug and play... no dremel needed. thomas had to dremel it down only cuz he was fitting h1 into an h3c headlight application. and its been more than 6 months and it'll still going strong lol what the hell are u talking about 3-6 months.

I ordered some bulbs on eBay (I know I'm going to get flamed for this) but they are simulated 8000K ad they have the blue tint to them. I think I paid like $15 for them shipped.

you just made your lights dimmer. blue tint over a halogen bulb just blocks light... although the color looks better I guess. dont tell me you got those like 75w ones cuz you're gonna fry your car's harness

$80??? What all does that come with? I've heard that HID bulbs alone cost about $100.00

Those made in China kits are getting dirt cheap now. A lot of them go for under $100 on ebay, a few years earlier a simple kit would cost 2-300. Now a simple tsx retrofit could cost 300-350 (without labor).

the guy claims ballasts are germany but i doubt it.... prolly all china stuff, but it works fine. it comes with relay, relay harness, two ballasts with igniters built in, and bulbs of your choice.

^ The dude sells it locally. For a good set of HID bulbs you're looking around 60-100, depending on type and colour. For us, a low-beam only type H4 is what I'd recommend because of the fact that our lows are shut off even if our highs are not locked on. No point in getting dual xenon, bi-xenon, or hi/low.

Man, Thomas' car looks good, but is slow as shit, haha.

~Cheers~

So hold up...you say DON'T get a bi-xenon HID? What do you do for your high beams if you only got a low beam output? I'm sure people will flash me a lot...they do already with my Silver Stars and I love to flash 'em back.

I remember someone doing a retrofit on a TL...looked different. Does anyone know what the best way to go is as far as adding a projection set up?

When you flash them, they just turn off. I have a halogen high and when I'm near cops, I switch to high beams.

So you have a halogen high beam filament, and no low beam filament, right? If we had a Bi-xenon bulb (bi=low beam/high beam) it would work when you flashed your brights, right? My understanding of the bi-xenon is that the bulb moves up when you flash your brights. Am I SITLL mistaken?

bi-xenon projectors have a cover that moves when the high beams are on. bi-xenon plug and play kit have two HID filaments inside a bulb. now single beam HID plug and play kits like that Go90go has is one HID filament in one bulb for low beams while there is a halogen bulb next to it for high beams.. which means the high beam is dim as hell compared to the low beam HID.

Okay, so the PROJECTORS themselves are what move. I was under the impression that the bulbs moved. Sorry if these Q's are monotonous but I want to make sure I know what I'm getting into before I do a retrofit. So if I had a bi-xenon projector kit (complete with bi-xenon bulbs, projectors, and balasts) I would pull the high beam stick on my car, the projectors tilt up, and a high beam filament lights up as well, right?

^ Bulbs moving are the fake bi-xenons. I can get a setup that actually has two HID bulbs next to each other but it's pointless because our low beams shut off the moment our highs are triggered. I found a relay to bypass that, but I'd rather not bother.

~Cheers~
