HID in fog

Do you guys think that 8000K or 10000K HID in the foglights can provide enough light for normal driving without the headlights on? And also is our foglight housing considered D2R or D2S?

wrong color direction for fog- those are purple and you need 3000k yellows to cut glare and refection back into your eyes

The S bulbs are considered replacement- they lack the locating tab the old ones have so put them straight in and lock down - no twisting allowed

No headlights? looking for a ticket?

That is def to much for the fogs. I wouldn't put them on without the headlights even though many people would do it. Just get the 3000K and you will be alright.

Go90go has 3000k in his foglights and 8000k in his headlights. We were driving through some heavy fog with them on yesterday. It significantly helped with visibility.

Ok, where to start. This whole, driving on fogs and parking/halo w/o headlights fad pisses me off. Additionally, out lense in the driving/fog lamp aims the light straight at the floor. I have it aimed as high as it'll go (I actually shattered one of the condoms, that's how high I aimed them) and it focuses about 3 meters in front of the car. We don't use D2R or D2S bulbs. D2S bulbs are NOT considered replacement, but they are designed for use in a projector housing. D2R bulbs, as the R suggests, are designed for use in a reflector type housing. 3000K is what I have, and I get nothing but compliments on how crisp and yellow the colour is compared to cheap kits' 3000K which ends up green, plus how nicely I can see.

~Cheers~

I have 6000k in my fogs and it's very bright. The beam pattern isn't meant to be used as the only source of lights, it's meant to help WITH the headlights on. These lights help me out a lot with my night/rain/fog driving. I'm not a fan of the yellow look although thats the best for cutting glare.

I agree, don't cut the function of headlights/foglights just to look cool (and most of the time look like a ricer). 3000k should work incredible, personally I have regular old yellow halogens in my foglight housing and 6000k HIDs in the headlights.

Alright thanks for the advice, for those of you who do have HIDs did you go for hi/low H4 or just one level H4 along with casper shields?

I have Hi/Low. I should show you a pic of my car with the lights on, but most cameras can't get it just right. I'll try, though.

Hey, a little off topic, but could you guys tell me how do the fog lights help in the fog? I haven't had the chance to drive this car in fog yet so I don't really understand how orange/yellow light would be better than the regular headlights. The only thing I know is that they do look real good at night!

I would like the 3000 to put in but thats just another project on the back burner. 96teel i got that sound dampener in and the project is about to be a go. Im excited, i cant wait to jam my system once completed.

French yellow has the least glare in the spectrum, IIRC.
