HELP... engine knock/clicking all of the sudden.
So all of the sudden last night my engine started knocking/clicking, not violently, but enough to cause concern. Any ideas of what is causing this, or should I take her in to get looked at??? She was running so smooth until last night. I have no idea what would cause this so suddenly.

One time I asked my mechanic about adjusting valve and he told me that my car does not need it.
However, its going to vcost me $450 bucks thus I say f*ck it, I'll find someone in the forum who knows how to do it.

Have you changed your oil regularly and is it currently in the acceptable fill range? Low oil will cause hydraulic lifters to start complaining. Poor service record can cause buildup that could lead to hydrualic valve lifter noise.

When a car's milege is higher the valves get f*cked up and become louder. I took it to my Acura dealer and they say it the valves need adjustments.

Yeah, as said above, probably a valve train issue... check oil pressure/level... try switching to a 10-30 or heavier weight oil, or some high mileage oil. My jeep used to tick and knock and for the life of my it would never go away... its nothing too much to worry about, but if it does not go away you should get it checked out. could be a loose rocker, or worse a burnt out valve...

I\'ve got the ESM, I'll let you know what I find
Maybe you can scan the page on how to adjust the valve or other useful information , and upload it to my website so we can view it with a login name and password.

OK.. I always run prem fuel, regular oil changes etc... funny thing is the knocking is most prominent around 1k to 2k rpm... and pretty bad around 1400-1500, car even shakes a bit at that range...above 2k the knocking mostly subsides and the clicking is all I can really hear. At higher rpm say 2500 and higher, she's almost silky smooth less the slight clicking. Think I'm just gonna take her in to get looked at.

If this is a 2.5TL, the exhaust manifold may be cracked. It makes a noise that might be described as knocking at low speed that disappears at higher speed, and as manifold warms.

Do you use Premium Fuel??????
if you don't use premium on the 2.5 TL, that could be why your engine knocks slightly. If you do you use premium, and it still does it, then you have a slightly bigger problem. maybe valve timing.........
Use Premium if your engine knocks, instead of spending a shit load of money on diagnostics. then go from there.

i've been searching for a picture or any info about valve adjustments, and this is what I found. This is a DIY tutorial on how to adjust the intake valve and exhaust valve for a Honda Civic. If we study the model carefully, we might be able to apply that same knowledge for our 2.5 TL. The next thing we need is a picture of where the valves are like with the civic.
So if anyone has a picture of where the valves are located, please post them.
Feel free to add any infos that can help us do it ourselves.
Heres the tutorial link
