head unit

Whats up guys and girls. After doing some searching I am still unclear. Can a newer TL headunit fit a first gen headunit. Anyone done it. My father owns the car and unfortunately his cdplayer has gotten old and doesnt work. He would like to keep the original look so I figured you guys would have an answer to my question.

Only if they are a true double or single DIN size. The newer TL's are shaped differently and require some serious custom work to fit in there. It would be easier and probably about the same expense to just get a nice headunit from Mcintosh or Nakamichi

yeah I would just buy a new head unit, but putting a 3rd Gen TL factory unit in th 1st Gen TL I don't see happening. They are quite different.

You could also try to locate a used 1st gen TL unit and it would be plug and play When my bro inherited a 2001 Maxima he picked up the indash bose cd player/tape player double din for like 70-80 bucks on eBay.

Good luck!

I didnt think the 3rd gen TL's headunit would fit but maybe the 2nd. Even those are impossible?

Yeah the 3rd gen definitely wont fit.. where would it display all the info? Its a DVD-audio surround system too.

You're basically stuck with a double or single DIN unit.. perhaps from a 1st gen CL or an Accord.
