Free Replacement of Emission Components and Oil Change?
I just saw a post where you can get your entire emission system replaced, even if nothing wrong with it, and a free oil change, between 75,000 and 150,000 miles for the 96-97 2.5 or 3.2tl. Has anyone had this done? What do they replace?

So what all will they replace, and do I need to be a **** and demand they replace it or will they just do it? Did you wait until 75,000-150,000 or was it replaced at the 65,000-75,000 inspection?

It's good on Canadian cars too, they're still built Japan.

Go to http://acura.com and then click on owner's link and register your car. It's free and they tell you about the recalls.

I just called up my dealer and Honda Canada. The dealer said they don't know about any emissions warranty extension and there are no oustanding recalls on my car. Honda Canada said that maybe the warranty applies to a certain number of vehicles in a model year and not all Acuras. This sounds weird because on the website it says all Acuras for this particular warranty while it lists certain Vin numbers for other warranties. Maybe my car isn't covered?

i think all the 1st gen TL's are covered. i took mine to my dealer and didn't even know it was covered until they told me they're gonna check it out. sometimes you jsut get lucky with a good dealership. other times you get shafted.

It is true, on ANY model Acura 95-97. I just got my free tune up today, all you have to do is mention it and they roll over! Unfortunately just the tune up didn't fix my #5 piston misfire. Has anyone had a misfire that was corrected free as per this warrantee?

Tune up? I thought it was just the emissions. Is there something else I should ask about? I am scheduled to bring my car in this saturday and if there is more they should be doing it would be nice to know.

I had my '96 in for an emission problem a while back. The light came on one Sunday and the car wouldn't get up over 35 mph or so. Finally got it over to the dealer and they replaced some components free it ended up being about $350 or so worth of work. If anyone is interested what they did let me know and I will find the work order and post the specifics.

yeah let me know.. about 10 months ago i turned my car on and one of my sensors went off.. i went to a shop where they put it in the diagnostics machine and he said that part was covered under warranty. just wait for it too happen again and go to the dealer... it has not happened again.. lucky me.. but if that is the case im going back their too have it done...
Let me know what parts are covered under this warranty

96TL 3.2, 84,000 miles:
From St. Louis Acura work order:
Check Engine light on
Code P0401 Low Flow EGR
Performed service bulletin #98-031
0.30 hours
Emmisions tune-up
Oil filter
Oil washer
Synthetic blend oil
Ignition kit
Spark plugs
0.80 hours
(All under "warranty", and I'm like the 4th owner)
Total $0.00
:-) !!!
Only downside was they told me that rear brake pads were toast, and $160 was needed to fix. I passed on that, and took it to a local shop (I live 120 miles from St. Louis) and told them the dealer told me I needed rear pads bad. The shop called an hour later and told me I had 5000 miles left in the pads, and didn't replace them. Gotta love the super-honest shops!
Moral of the story: know your recalls/service bulletins, and patronize and recommend to others shops that prove to be honest.
