Found an old friend

While searching Craigslist a few days ago, I found my very first TL. The very 1996 TL I bought almost 5 years ago for $3000 with 130k on her. I sold it when I bought my 06 TL, and have missed it ever since. It now has 260k on it, and they are asking $3200. Called up the owners, and they remember me! I test drove it today, and it sounds, smells, and drives just like I remember. I really have no reason to buy iy, but I am going to. Even if I dont drive it, at least i know that some punk teenager isn't thrashing around in it!

Too bad i am going to have to pay more the seconf time around for the same car! hahaha. The owner used it to drive back and forth to work on the freeway every day, and they took it to the Ducks football games here in oregon, because it's green, and matched the team colors

You should at least try to negotiate the price down. The car will soon be 18 yrs old and has 260k miles and will be due for another timing belt job soon.

This is what I immediately thought of .... Makes me miss mine even more than I do and I got rid of her over a year ago.

Well, it's been almost three weeks now. Got insurance for it, and transfered the title. Hopefully the last time the title ever changes names!
Bought new balljoints and struts last week, and a trans filter and new fluid. Now I just have to find a day where I can spend some time working on it. Working 60 hpurs a week doesnt leave much time for projects!

Wow! Reminds me of what happened to me when I sold my Accord a month ago because I purchased my TL. I used to own a TSX and I sold it to a guy about three years ago. The guy who bought my Accord turned out to be the same guy who bought my TSX. I thought that was a crazy coincidence. Sorry, not trying to thread jack. Carry on.

How much did you sell it to them for?

The weather here has been to crappy to take pics of the car, let alone wash it. But once things calm down, I will.

I sold it to them for 3200. They clocked her up to 260k and sold it back for 3100. I got hosed a little bit, but they had to put a heater blower in, new axles, a starter, and a radiator. Oh, and new calipers in the rear.
KBB values the car at 1500, but I felt fine with 3100.

The only pictures I have of it now, are the pictures of the dent my coworker put in it today when she slammed her door into it. I saw her do it, and she did nothing but wipe the paint off the edge of her door (90's Tercel) and walk past me. Not a word said. After work i went to a body shop and got a quote...$406. I will set that on her work station in the morning.

I confronted her today, with the boss as mediator, and she is going to pay for it to get fixed. She gave the good ol' "it's just an old car" line

Didn't have a chance to wash it, or clean the inside, but here it is!
Sorry for the poor quality, it wasn't light out yet.

So you just bought it and didn't really need it? I admire that! You know that makes you different than anyone else on this forum, at least those that I have talked to. I say if you are born again, if you want something, you should get it. Especially if you are a hard worker.

You are making me miss my TL...

Other than the leak on the driver's side, it was a solid car.

Two very nice and clean cars in this thread. Makes me want to wash mines, take a pic and upload here as well, haha.

Is it me, or do you have a busted driver's side condom?

Nope, condom is there. It must just be the lighting.

I did regret that I sold my condoms! For cheap too. $20 for the pair.
