Engine Mounts

What are the symptoms of worn engine mounts? Both Honda and my local shop have told me that mine are worn and need to be replaced. I was wondering if there is anything you can feel or tell that your mounts are worn out.

There might be some jerking when putting the car in gear. Also, abnormal vibration at idle and maybe at a certain speed of driving may be present.

Put your car into neutral, then drive, then neutral. If you feel a noticeable jerk in the driver's seat you have a bad mount. It is usually the rear mount where the transmission is.

The front mount right behind the radiator and the side mount beside the engine that's mounted on the fender well area are the mounts that went bad on my 99.
You can have someone sit in the car/apply the brake/and while you"re looking under the hood/preferable from the side of the car so you don't take the chance of getting run over!/apply a little gas to the enging while it's in drive/you will see the engine raise on the front mount. If it raises up like mine did an inch or more you'll know the mounts are bad. I replace them myself. Quite easy if you have the right tools. The front and side mounts were about $140 for both ordered from Acura online. There are after market mounts that are also recommended. Do a search/there are lots of posts here.
