does anyone know about this?

i saw a recall for the '96. check the nhsta website:

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. CERTAIN VEHICLES WERE MANUFACTURED WITH BALL JOINTS THAT CAN PREMATURELY WEAR OUT AND, IN THE WORSE CASE, THE BALL JOINT WOULD SEPARATE CAUSING THE FRONT SUSPENSION TO COLLAPSE.

Consequence Summary:
THIS CONDITION WOULD RESULT IN VEHICLE DECELERATION AND A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER. ALSO STEERING CONTROLLABILITY WOULD BE REDUCED.
Corrective Summary:

DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER BALL JOINTS.

Hmm, I never saw that. Will the dealer replace that even if the car isn't under warranty?

yes, by law, acura has to fix the recall problem, IF ITS A RECALL. otherwise, nope, we're shiet out of luck

you should check the NHTSA web site...thats where i got the info.

hmm well the recall isn't listed on the NHTSA web site.. where did you hear about it? TLBaller.. did you need proof of the recall when you went up there? I'm thinking if its not listed on the NHTSA site or Acura owner link then my dealer won't know about it..

i went for a "check engine" light and they said there was a recall on my car b/c of the ball joints. they said they'll do it free b/c its a recall so i was like, "COOL!!" they gave me a free rental car while it was being worked on.

On my car it says it behind the wood trim on the dash. I'm pretty sure mine was made in 95 also. There has to be an easy way to check though. Maybe in the door jam somewhere?
