I've got a check engine indicator on my 98 3.2 TL... my brother-in-law used his computer to check it out and it gave back an ERG error code. Sorry, I don't remember the actual code. I have no idea what he was doing exactly, but he manipulated/pumped the EGR with his hand a few times and the check engine light went off after a few days. A couple weeks later and it is back on again.

Obviously, I have zero clue when it comes to automotive stuff, but I am trying to figure out if I need to buy a new EGR or just do some cleaning?

It's most likely an insufficient flow code. Just unplug the EGR, unbolt it, then spray a bunch of intake cleaner down the hole. Disconnect your car battery for 30 seconds to reset the ECU, then reconnect everything and start the car. It should clear up but if the EGR pipe itself is clogged, you'll have to take it off and clean it with a drill or screwdriver and brake parts cleaner. It's a bitch to get it out with the motor still in the car, as deadsetonlivin's trip to the hospital shows, haha. Good luck.

do you have at least 150k miles on the car. if so you can get it service for free. other wise,no. its part of emission

122k miles. So, warranty covers emission up to 150k?

my bad i think its 96 97 that has extended im not sure
