do i need a ball joint?

today..i was driving im hearing rattling noises from my right wheel..i hear only when i go over bumps..and when im on the a smooth surface i dont hear it at all.

i dont think its any my struts or shock or wheel..i shake the wheel up and down side to side nothing no movement.

after searching the web and find answer to other kinds of cars..i read through the forums says the ball joint is what i need. im goin to check it tommorow.

ahhh this is annoying.

Unless the ball joint boot is torn and grease lost, I would doubt that wear will be an issue. I know it has happened to others though. Your checks for movement are the best check. Note, it only takes a tiny amount of play to cause problems.

Have you checked the bushings on the anti-sway or stablizer bar. This will cause rattling and clunking if they are worn out. Pretty easy DIY on most Honda products. I haven't done a TL yet.

Worn bushings on the control arms can cause problems as well.

good luck

Remedy:
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER BALL JOINTS.

Yes, the lower arm should be removed to access the bushings. Doesn't look too bad once the lower ball joint is separated from the arm. I would replace the stablizer bar bushings while doing this job.

good luck
